My co-workers at Winneshiek County Conservation sponsor a fishing derby on Lake Meyer every winter around Valentine's Day. It's meant to be a fun event for the whole family to get outside and try to catch a few fish. They kindly give me - the old timer - a cushy job of official weigh-in captain, so I get to see every big fish that's caught. Here's a nice northern pike that won 1st place in its class.

A girl is waiting for a ride to start on a traditional carousel at the Philadelphia City Hall during the Christmas Market days. I am not sure about her expression. Maybe she does not quite feel like riding a giant colibri.

Los anillos en el cuello se van incrementando uno por año desde los 5 a los 12 años de edad. A partir de eso se le añaden la mayor cantidad de anillos hasta que su cuello llegue a su tope. Nunca se los quitan, duermen, se bañan y hacen todo en su vida con este armatoste alrededor del la garganta.

En 1979, la National Geografic mostraba la radiografía de una mujer kayan en la que se aprecia que los collares no aumentaban la separación de las vertebras del cuello, sino que oprimía hacia abajo la clavícula y la cavidad de las costillas, creando de esa manera el efecto del cuello estirado.
