pcos5k.org | The Bolt for PCOS 5K Run/Walk is the largest event in the U.S. dedicated to raising awareness and funds to help fight polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The event is hosted by Omega Phi Alpha National Service Sorority and benefits PCOS Challenge, Inc., the country's leading 501(c)(3) public charity advancing the cause for women and girls with PCOS. Proceeds from the Bolt for PCOS event go toward PCOS education, health screenings, grants, research and support programs, as well as increasing awareness and public support for those with the condition.
PCOS (Poly cystic ovary syndrome) is a disease involving the development of multiple cysts in the ovaries. Its global prevalence is increasing day by day due to the development of multiple complications along with it. The complications originated by PCOS involve infertility, hirsutism, skin problems, insulin resistance, cardiovascular health risk, etc.

Dr. Manu Lakshmi is one of ISAR’s (Indian society for Assisted Reproduction) first certified PCOS Specialist in India.
She obtained her OBGYN residency training from the Govt Kasturba Hospital Chennai.
She pursued higher studies in the UK and was awarded the Memebership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist’s (MRCOG).
Dr. Manu is an expert in Laparoscopic Key hole surgeries with advanced training from Germany.
She completed her Fellowship in Reproductive medicine from Chettinad Hospital and Fellowship in Ultrasound from Annamalai University.
Higher training in Fertility medicine and Polycystic ovarian syndrome treatment was obtained from the Glen Eagles Hospital Singapore.
She has given innumerable lectures on Medical and public forums and also is a highly sought after speaker on various TV channels.
She is the author of book chapters in Infertility and Sexual Health for Springer publications.
PCOS has always been Dr. Manu’s niche and she has taken it upon herself to improve the quality of life in women suffering from this debilitating condition.
The PCOS Clinic under Dr. Manu’s watchful eyes is now serving more than 30,000 patients in a year.

Die erste Woche!
Die Woche war leider nicht so toll. Trotz gesunder Ernährung geht leider kein Gramm so richtig runter. Das liegt leider auch zum Teil am PCO und der Insulinresistenz.
Warum hemmt PCO die Fettreduktion?
Leider ist es so, dass durch die Insulinresistenz alles an Fett eingelagert wird. Die Verteilung des Insulins funktioniert nicht richtig. Die Überbrückung ist nicht da. Der Körper denkt, dass er dieses Fett noch gebrauchen kann. Da er nicht weiß, wann er das nächste Mal wieder etwas bekommt.

I was happy to drop the first ball and present the trophy at the PCO Ball Hockey Tournament in support of the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign (GCWCC). Congratulations to the winning team, and thank you to all participants for your valuable contribution to the GCWCC. What a great example of helping others, while staying active too.

J’ai été très heureux de faire la mise aux jeux et de présenter la coupe à l’occasion du tournoi de hockey bottine pour la Campagne de charité en milieu de travail du gouvernement du Canada (CCMTGC). J’aimerais offrir mes félicitations à l’équipe gagnante et remercier tous les participants d’avoir contribué à la CCMTGC. Voilà un bel exemple d’une activité qui nous permet d’aider les autres tout en étant actif.
