This wicked camper stencil arrived in my window box today. Local artist Stencillista dropped it by after I made rather obvious hints earlier this week. It is absolutely stunning!! It seems bert and elmo's suggestion of a flickr beer at Christmas has turned into quite a creative movement here in Portsmouth. Our third meet next week is the zine meet where we'll be submitting work for a PCM zine. I've spent so many years working in isolation unaware their were so mmany cool people doing the same. :)

Another perspective on Life and the Ride:
About 600 orphans live down this road in Mbarra in Southwest Uganda, in a nice place with great oversight and care. This is their neighborhood, and the local ride looks like this. You can certainly tell there's not a lot of money in the area. To have a bike is a big deal, to get stuff to market -- wood, bananas and water. The ride is literally their life, and they are very glad to have it.
People in Southwest Uganda don't beg, they almost always are dressed neatly just going about their day, and are warm and welcoming. They speak English.
The kids sang us a song, "Uganda, the Pearl of Africa" and they sounded very convincing. Until I went there and rode these roads, I only had a dark conception of Uganda, Idi Amin and all that. This trip altered perceptions considerably.
BTW, there are a lot of Chinese contractors out there, building roads.
