Sorry for having been so quiet recently, I have been putting all my spare time into building a motion rigging system. While I was taking a couple of photos for the blog write-up this shot popped out.
I was really struggling to control the depth of field using the lowest lighting setup my lights would do, but it still blew out at the top. I really liked it though because it kinda blends into the effect caused by the depth of field blur as well.
Strobist: Elinchrom Quadra RX at minimum power behind subject into camera using a 100cm octobox. Done this way to directly reflect light off the copper tracks while providing normal lighting to the board.

Because PCBs are woven fibreglass and epoxy they're tough as anything and we're making tiny holes, usually a millimeter or less. The drill must spin at high RPM to make the outside edge of the tiny diameter bit travel fast enough. This rotary tool will do 35,000 RPM which drives through PCBs like butter.

As the electronics hobbyist one of knowledge that we have to be familiar with is how to make our own printed circuit board (PCB). Making our own simple single side PCB actually is not require a sophisticated technique and technology as you might think, instead most of the required materials is already available at your home. Clifford (a good friend from the Metalab) wrote a nice little tool for drilling PCBs with devices that speak G-Code. We used it successfully to drill PCBs with our RepRap G-Code setup. That might also be interesting for other RepRappers so here is the link to cliffords svn (it's very well documented):
