Happy Birthday to a legend, Patti Smith! The first time I wanted to photograph her was in 2006 and I was assigned to photograph someone else. This time, she only allowed photographs for about half a song but I got a few worth keeping thankfully.

Here, I present an image depicting two figures, their eyes obscured by colourful bands, symbolising the concealment and censorship of their true identity and voice. The background, a vivid composition of red, green, and blue stripes, mirrors a world brimming with dynamism and diversity. The central focus on the bandaged eyes of the figures is intended to prompt the viewer to contemplate the boundaries of perception and the depth of individual identities. This image is a visual reflection on resistance to conformity and societal norms, inspired by the energy and message of Patti Smith's song "Rock'n'Roll Nigger."

Amidst an unconventional journey of life, characterized by rebellion and self-determination, lies an individual defying the pressure of societal norms and yearning for freedom. Through the artistic reversal of prejudices and stereotypes, they advocate for a world beyond societal expectations, inviting others to join this journey. --style raw --s 500 --c 20 --weird 20

This shot of Patti Smith performing is not super sharp . I was shooting in the middle of a large crowd and the Cambridge Festival and it was dark so thats my excuse
It was good to see Patti Smith I have admired her work for many years . She personifies what good rock should be full of energy , edgy and slightly dangerous . I was listening to Little Richards music the other day he could really rock . Patti came to the fore in the late seventies when the Punk movement brought rock back to its roots from being destroyed by the self indulgence of progressive rock: Yes ,Pink Floyd et al.
If you have never heard Patti than try this link she is singing Because the night with Bruce Springsteen not a great quality film but a good spirit
PS got my hands on the new Dylan record “ My Rough and Rowdy Ways “ yesterday its a thing of beauty
THANKS FOR YOUR VISITING BUT CAN I ASK YOU NOT TO FAVE AN IMAGE WITHOUT ALSO MAKING A COMMENT. MANY THANKS KEITH. ANYONE MAKING MULTIPLE FAVES WITHOUT COMMENTS WILL SIMPLY BE BLOCKED
In a cafe near the Place Vendôme the morning after the last concert of her European tour. Taken in the course of an interview for The Sunday Times.
The most famous toilet in Rock'n'Roll - inducing instant constipation in clubgoers for decades.
CBGB, New York City, July 2006.
CBGBs is closing October 31 and relocating to Las Vegas, where they'll reopen in 2008. The owner plans to reconstruct the stage and the ambiance, and promises to bring the urinals and the toilets with him. It's not fixtures, though, that make this toilet so notorious - it's the feng shui. It's the elevated crapper lording over the peasants at the urinals. Some question whether CBGBs will be able to recreate their scene in a new city. If they can construct a bathroom that makes you feel just as uncomfortable as this one, than the answer is yes.
Another day at home, covid skyrockets in the place where I live. A little bit of music from the old good times helps to uplift my spirit.
Incredible decor & music selection… The type of place where you are not fully aware of it’s day or night outside. But that feels nice & relaxing
she is re-creation
she, intoxicated by thee
she has the slow sensation that
he is levitating with she ...
here I go and I don't know why,
I spin so ceaselessly,
'til I lose my sense of gravity...
