To me this shot is more about the water than the ducks, who are more like stage hands.

I go, and autumn too.”

* I processed this from my hotel room on my new ultrabook which doesn't have Lightroom, Photoshop, or Canon DPP. So I had to process using primitive Microsoft photo editing software. I just wanted to get it uploaded quickly. I might re-edit in a few days when I get a moment.

** I finally managed to re-process the image. Importantly got rid of the annoying dust spots that have been plaguing my images of late. Must get my sensor cleaned!

I took this while crossing the " shoulder " of Trooperstown Hill, Co. Wicklow, looking back towards the village of Laragh [ Lara ] and beyond to the monastic settlement of Glendalough ,[ "The Glen of the two lakes" ]

This is part of the" Avonmore [river] Way" which is about 12 to 15km in distance, depending on the route you take, and runs from near this spot to the village of Rathdrum. It winds its way through some really stunning woodland with mountain views as it skirts the Avonmore river on its route.Eventually it arrives at "Clara Vale" at the old bridge [ photo on here ] and small schoolhouse before continuing and reaching "Stump Castle"

I did the longer route and including a break for tea and a sandwich, it took me three and a half hours. Its easy ground and nice and dry and well within the scope of the average person. Its another one of those hidden gems as Ive never seen a photo of this before which amazes me. Its a linear route so two cars are recommended unless you want to walk the return journey.

I took this in late August when the Bracken was growing at full steam and the Wicklow heather was also in full bloom giving a shock of purple to the greenery which i love. Ill have to redo this walk in the coming weeks as Im certain that the woodland must be stunning about now, in all its Autumn glory and anyway, I dont need an excuse!!! Maybe I should stay in more!!!!

I hope you like effort and my "meanderings" and I do always appreciate a few Faves n comments if you like.

Hope your week is as super as mine and catch you all soon!

Pat.

Ive just updated this today, 10/2/2017 as I like it lots!!!

The final image of an evening on Sunset Cliffs near the campus of Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, California.

The cliffs and bluffs are eroding rapidly this year as a result of the increased rain and intemperate weather associated with El Niño The paths to the beach below the cliffs are unstable and hazardous, but like most other local people, we took the chance and had a positive outcome.

...a parting capture to honor my newfound waterfall friends Cheri and Billy from Charlotte, NC....You'll faintly see them standing on the ledge to the right of the first drop. Thanks so much guys for lending a realistic sense of perspective here in this spectacular and mystical place! ...It was almost as if the angels held the clouds in front of the sun even for just passing moments so I could make this shot.

After a very productive morning following M316 east out of Grafton, the light was beginning to swing enough that it make sense to let them go after Altamont. Driving east from Oakland, we had just a few minutes to get set up before the train crawled up to the highest point on the Mountain Subdivision. Long-closed AM Tower is visible in the trees at the left.

This is my last post for quite awhile, as I will be incommunicado for the next couple of months.

Mangrove swamps are an important part of the coastal protection in Thailand and elsewhere in South East Asia. After years of being removed, harsh lessons were learned from the tsunami event of 2004 and mangrove areas are much more actively protected. This one is in a park in Phuket Town

From the archives....Wasn't much going on this particular evening around the Lake Louise area; in fact, it was a bit dreary and drizzly, so we headed up the Icefields Parkway, hoping to see some wildlife or catch a break in the clouds. Talk about perfect timing; we arrived at Bow Lake right about the time the sun dropped behind the mountains; clouds were swirling about in a mad fury and finally parted just long enough for us to enjoy this beautiful sunset.

Have a great Wednesday.....appreciate all your visits and comments!!!!

My parting effort before leaving the Great Sand Dune National Park and Preserve was taking 46 images that span the expanse of the Northern view of the dunes at around 6 PM. This panorama covered a distance that measured over 4.5 miles. To take these images, I used a Sony 24-240mm zoom set at around 139mm with a vertical framing using a Sony A7R3 with manual focus using a f/14, 1/320 shutter speed, and ISO 100. The complexity came in post processing trying to stitch together 46 images where each has a file size over 46 MB. I first tried Lightroom's Pano's program option and it failed. I then tried Photoshop and got the same results. After Googling for an option, I tried Panorama Stitcher Pro (youtu.be/nmBdxFLuFnM) and it successfully stitched together this 8.09 GB file. Of course I then had to output it at a much small file size to meet the file size limits in flickr. Really worthwhile effort to learn on. Check out these other flickr photos from this location, see: Colorado Fall Colors and Great Sand Dune Grass.
