Peckham rye park a nice walk today in the winter sun..

The Park Avenue Trail is one of the first major attractions within Arches National Park. It is a one-mile trail that follows the bottom of a canyon at the feet of some of the gigantic, and well-known monoliths of interesting formation protruding from the canyon walls.

The Three Gossips, the Courthouse Towers, Queen Nefertiti and Queen Victoria Rock, the Organ, and the Tower of Babel are all visible from the road as visitors drive up towards Balanced Rock and Delicate Arch, but there is a large difference in experience when actually hiking through them.

This short out and back trail heads north down a wide canyon flanked by towering rock walls and spires. These impressive formations are reminiscent of skyscrapers and buildings that shape Manhattan, hence the name 'Park Avenue'.

The trail drops from the trailhead on a steep set of stone stairs (seeing in the foreground) to the wide canyon floor. The dirt path is soon predominantly sandstone as you travel down the widening canyon mouth.

The benedict fam in Montgomery is a former Dairy Farm who's land became a town park. The farm buildings are no longer used and are empty and sealed. The interior of the farmhouse has been stripped down to the studs.

A little bit of autumn we found here in the park around our little pond. Mostly we miss it because of our travels.

Eine Spur Herbst fanden wir noch im kleinen Park um den Teich herum.

Das meiste verpassen wir aufgrund unserer Reisen in dieser Zeit.

Pretty view there in Glacier National Park

We stopped by Stanwell Tops on the way home. The sun was going down, but there was one paraglider ready to launch. To me (a non expert) the wind seemed to be in the wrong direction. She jumped off, did a quick turn into the wind and then headed off to the beach to land.

While on a walk I came across this floatplane parked on a local beach. It was attached to a tree by three ropes so I went home and got my camera. There's a coffee shop across the street, so maybe the occupants dropped in for lunch. This picture has been hiding for 10 years. It's time to share it. :)

While visiting Yellowstone National Park we hiked several miles to the cabin at Cabin Creek. The cabin was constructed during the 1930's and somehow has survived wildfires in the area. The windows were barred and the doors padlocked.

Happy Window Wednesday!

The park initially belonged to the Chertsey Abbey with the park being mentioned in the Domesday Book. In 1544, after the dissolution of the monasteries, it was granted by Henry VIII to Sir Anthony Browne and his wife, Lady Elizabeth Fitzgerald ('The Fair Geraldine' of Henry Howard). The first visual record of the park is shown on a John Seller map of 1693.
