You can put bacon on a sandwich without anyone freaking out. But the moment your sandwich has an egg, boom, it's a breakfast sandwich.

These two Great Egret chicks were waiting for a parent to bring them food as alligators swam beneath the nest, a constant danger if they were to fall out. These chicks were pretty big and didn't have to much further to wait until they fledged.

The pond ice is starting to melt. There is now a small area of open water on the far side, and the ducks are starting to show up. I believe the left hand duck is an eclipse plumage male, not a female. They were dabbling near a diving ring-necked duck. I read that they sometimes steal food from the diving ducks, but they were well behaved on my watch. I got lucky and caught the one good light window on an otherwise dreary day. " Lions, a mating pair " shown in the first comment box and posted 2 weeks ago. This one was lost the fight and had some injuries, mainly on his back.

During the 3 days that I was in the area he kept on following the mating couple

et bonne semaine à tous !

I love Nuthatches especially as they are a fairly recent addition to Scotland's birdlife. About 50 years ago they had a tiny foothold in the Borders but in the last thirty years or so they have expanded considerably spreading north and west quickly. The prime driver in this is the increase and popularity of bird feeding and Nuthatches can't resist a peanut. A pair were dominating the feeders today and cleaned out the peanuts. This is a female with light chestnut undertail coverts and a grey, rather than strong black, stripe through the eye.

Greater scaup nest predominantly on islands in large lakes and lay an average of 9 eggs. The bill is a light blue-gray with a black nail, the legs and feet are gray and the iris is yellow. We just can’t stay away from Loch Lomond Marina in San Rafael. This has quickly become our favorite birding spot. There is always so much to see and photograph as long as the light is right. This handsome Greater Scaup pair was taking a break from foraging for food just long enough for us to capture this photo.

Many thanks to all who comment, fave or just enjoy looking, it really is very much appreciated!

There are approximately between 32 - 50 breeding pairs in the UK. This pair were giving great views and were seemingly un-phased by the people and dogs walking by.

I think this is one of my favourite photos I've taken.

I continue with the matings of I. elegans and the different shades of color that both males and females present.

Adult males turn blue and the shades of the one we see in the image are, because the male is an adult, but not the female, from group A, which is young and when adult it will look a lot like the male.
