before the bay of palma awakens, the day murmurs its arrival through the whispers of dawn. clouds part like curtains unveiling a stage, rays of light cascade, each a gentle touch on the slumbering sea. the silhouette of the distant mountains stands as the eternal audience, witnessing the slow brightening of the world. it’s a serene symphony where each element plays its part in harmony, the sea reflecting the sky’s moody hues, the land a dark contrast to the awakening sky. in this quiet hour, time pauses, allowing the earth to inhale the promise of a new day, a subtle interlude before life resumes its pace.
Tugboat traffic around Powell River has decreased significantly over the last few years, and now that the local pulp and paper mill is shut down we won't be seeing Seaspan boats very often either. This is the Seaspan Pacer heading south with 3 empty scows out of the frame behind her on a dark winter day.

Just before 1am, NS H70 is seen racing through Tuxedo, NY, pacing Old Route 17. The leader, NS SD70ACC #1832, is just one of a handful in service of the locomotive type.
Passing at a combined speed of over 120 mph, a westbound Union Pacific stack train meets an eastbound vehicle train near Dunlap, Iowa, on May 22, 2014, in a view along good old U.S. 30.

An excellent day out on a Pacer driving experience courtesy of the Appleby Frodingham Railway Preservation society.
I don't often take photos like this, so it was nice change of pace! I had this idea for awhile but I didn't have bathroom set up until now :)

CNW 6876, an Athearn RTR SD40-2, passes a Santa Fe style cantilever as it leads a manifest comprised of nicely weathered freight cars during NAPM's (North American Prototype Modelers) once a year open house after Trainfest 2016. NAPM's layout is very detailed and is one of the best looking HO scale layouts in the country. The have a flickr too showcasing some great photos of their layout and trains as well that you can check out here-
The photo (the locomotive itself) is slightly blurry, I know, but model trains are small and its pretty tough to match the speed of the train on a layout with your camera lens so all the precise lettering and details are clear. Either way, I think it turned out okay.

One of the very few remaining Illinois Central Geeps leads a local Northbound out of Du Quoin, IL as it makes its way back towards Centralia.
November 26, 2001. Pace bus run 364 has finished its trip in deserted and seedy downtown Hammond, Indiana. It appears there will be no passengers for the run back to Illinois. Just as I was leaving, a young lady approached me offering to sell me a fur coat. I declined.
Since I photographed this, the two buildings across the street have been razed.
Brown-headed Cowbird (Molothrus ater) & Red-winged Blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus)
taken with a Sigma 50-500mm handheld. This is my 400th upload to Flickr and it seems fitting to me. For the past year I have uploaded about a photo a day but I do not know if I can keep up that pace this year. Hopeful I will only post eye-pleasing photographs until I hit the 500 mark.

One of the places i really wanted to hit in Colorado was the San Luis & Rio Grande which i was hoping to chase some of their Maroon & gold painted engines. I arrived into Alamosa to find this beast tied down the night before this was taken next to the shops. I woke up the next morning to find that the engine and car 820 were gone so I headed east to quickly caught up to the test train heading for La Veta pass at a good clip. I would chase them as far east as Forbes Park before they would get deep into the Pass.
