Like my previous upload, this shot is a reworking of a previous upload upload. I'll have to get back to the La Defense area of Paris as it's full of potential shots like this.

Dancing darkness
sparkling stars, promising eternal light
new days, new dawns, new destinations
opening out into newly seen visions
Wonder created by gracefully moving
through veils cast each away
arraying luminous color
aurora lightning
bursting through.
Breathing piney memories
crackling branches expanding fires
dancing warmth into too rigid forms.
Tasting the luscious fruit of life
pouring ecclesiastic energy
synaptically synergized
learning again and beyond and ever
peace, sacred peace.
Emotive gesture
taking the barriers of sacred place
into form, into visions, into life
magickal fluid immersed in ether
growing through soul in ceremony
of give and take and
the awareness of love.
I sing my sacred song into the emergent
ether, twining into elemental splendour
into the depth of antiquity,
the breadth of possibility,
the chemical equation
of air, light, vibration,
peace, love, joy
to all of Earth and mind.
Merry Solstice
Blessed Be

Having finally finished uploading photos from my 2018 trip to Brussels things will be a bit more 'random' around here for a while....... Firstly I've got some 'remixes' of previously uploaded photos to add including this square crop of this Radcliffe Camera reflection. It might be hard to believe considering there's very little drop in quality but this is actually a perspectively corrected version of my previous upload......

From Wikipedia : "The Radcliffe Camera (colloquially known as the "Rad Cam" or "The Camera"; from Latin camera, meaning 'room') is a building of Oxford University, England, designed by James Gibbs in neo-classical style and built in 1737–49 to house the Radcliffe Science Library. It is sited to the south of the Old Bodleian, north of the Church of St Mary the Virgin, and between Brasenose College to the west and All Souls College to the east.
The Radcliffe Camera's striking circularity, its position in the heart of Oxford, and its separation from other buildings make it the focal point of the University of Oxford, and as such it is almost always included in shorthand visual representations of the university."

One of my favourite photos from my recent Paris trip, my alternative title for this shot of La Defense reflections was 'The Red Dot' as it's amazing how something so small can still dominate the frame. Only on a few of the windows, presumably they let the Fire Brigade which windows are Fire Escape windows, but this is only a guess.

I don't normally like to 'bump' images to the front of my photostream but in this case I'm going to make an exception as it forms the perfect announcement to the Oxfordshire Artweeks 2016 Group Exhibition I'm part of.
Not only is the image featured as one of my eight images but it's on our publicity materials thanks to its relevance as being a shot of the Exhibition venue itself. If you'd like to see some of my architectural images along with the work of another ten talented photographers you'll have to wait until tomorrow (and officially Saturday) as we're not hanging the exhibition till later this afternoon. The last day of the Exhibition will be Driday 27th May so you've got several weeks to get down there........
Original posting :
A very crisp looking detail of the Rafael Viñoly Architects designed Andrew Wiles Mathematical Institute building in Oxford.
Having lost our original Artweeks 2016 Central Library venue due to the redvelopment of the Westgate Centre, I can now reveal that the Oxford Photographers group show will take place inside the atrium of the Andrew Wiles Mathematical Institute building next May. From Wikipedia : "The Mathematical Institute is the mathematics department at the University of Oxford, England. It forms one of the ten departments of the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Divisional Board in the University.
Oxford Mathematics includes both pure and applied mathematics (statistics is a separate department) and is one of the largest and most respected mathematics departments in the UK with about 90 faculty. Its research covers a range of fields from, for example, Algebra and Number Theory to the applications of mathematics to industry, climate, and the brain. It has over 850 undergraduates, over 200 postgraduates and around 150 MSc students.
As of Michaelmas term 2013 Oxford Mathematics has been unified and is now housed in the striking, purpose built Andrew Wiles Building on the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter in North Oxford, near the original Radcliffe Observatory. Sir Andrew Wiles, a Royal Society Research Professor at the University of Oxford, is best known for proving Fermat's Last Theorem."

One of my favourite shots from the recent Advanced Photographer / 'Samsung Shoots : Urban' event I took part in recently. Me and seven other photographers spent the day in London using the new Samsung NX1 camera and our views and photos will be published in Advanced Photographer next month.

Another photo from my quest to photograph famous places in an unusual way......... Here's a barely recognisable shot of the Grand Place in Brussels, this was created by shooting a reflection in some of the wonderfully distorted antique glass of the buildings.
Click here to see more photos from the trip : www.flickr.com/photos/darrellg/albums/72157716583369188
From Wikipedia : "The Grand Place ("Grand Square"; also used in English) or Grote Markt "Grand Market") is the central square of Brussels, Belgium. It is surrounded by opulent guildhalls and two larger edifices, the city's Town Hall, and the King's House or Breadhouse (French: Maison du Roi, Dutch: Broodhuis) building containing the Brussels City Museum. The square measures 68 by 110 metres (223 by 361 ft).
The Grand Place is the most important tourist destination and most memorable landmark in Brussels. It is also considered one of the most beautiful squares in Europe, and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998."

Having seen some great shots by some of my Contacts of this Future Systems building at 367 Oxford Street I know there's a lot of potential but every time I've walked past the building is in shade. I liked this one though as the chaotic composition seemed to reflect it's Oxford St context.

During Oxfordshire Artweeks artists, printmakers, sculptors, jewellers, photographers and other creatives open their studios to the public. Here printmaker Susan Wheeler is demonstrating to visitors how she produced the lovely print of her dog as seen by the window.
The window light was sufficient so not requiring the option of using a reflector.

The Denton Corker Marshall designed Civil Justice Centre seen reflected in a nearby building, I liked the colours and the way the reflections made the shot more abstract.

There wasn't much sunshine around by the time I got to Canary Wharf so immediately I was looking for a different type of shot. From shooting my usual 'postcard' type images I turned my attention to the smaller details such as these reflections in a Docklands skyscraper.
