The landscape overwhelms, not just by its beauty but also by its size. The fragile pinnacles of rock are surrounded by miles of mesas and buttes, shrubs, trees and windblown sand, all comprising the magnificent colors of the valley. All of this harmoniously combines to make Monument Valley a truly wondrous experience
Emotions in B&W series coming up. We'll start with how I've been feeling lately, overwhelmed.
Hopefully my pose shows that.
More to come.
My inspiration for this picture: In The End - By Linkin Park
When worries overwhelm you and you fade away . . . .
The feeling that you're losing yourself, losing everything that means anything to you. . . . . .
You're crying and desperate and there's nothing left no matter how hard you try . . . .
Hope is lost and you realize that everything you've ever done is meaningless. . . . . .
Do you know this feeling?

I have scarcely left you
When you go in me, crystalline,
Or trembling,
Or uneasy, wounded by me
Or overwhelmed with love, as
when your eyes
Close upon the gift of life
That without cease I give you.
My love,
We have found each other
Thirsty and we have
Drunk up all the water and the
Blood,
We found each other
Hungry
And we bit each other
As fire bites,
Leaving wounds in us.
But wait for me,
Keep for me your sweetness.
I will give you too
A rose.

Flores Island is the westernmost island of the Azores archipelago. It is, as well, its most beautiful one. With an area of 143 km2 and 4.000 inhabitants it has a verdant landscape of rolling hills, deep valleys, crater lakes bordered by hydrangeas, high peaks, magnificent waterfalls and monolithic sea cliffs.
Flores has been included on UNESCO’s list of World Network of Biosphere Reserves.
Peace, rest and contact with nature are the keywords that better describe this magnificent island.
Here you can expect to live with the melodious sound of running water from crystal-clear streams, colourful hydrangeas winding over hills, petrified basalt, refreshing lakes, small white houses perched on green slopes. All these are defining features of Flores: a garden floating on the Atlantic Ocean!
My Azores album contains several photos taken on Flores Island (and some on the adjacent Corvo Island): www.flickr.com/photos/142581467@N05/albums/72157714758941848

I am overwhelmed with gratitude to the LORD for His goodness and steadfast love! He is so good and His love endures forever. I look at this sunset and the beautiful colors that enrobe the clouds and cover the sky and the many deer that were grazing in the field and I am so thankful knowing that in the midst of this crazy life we live that the LORD alone holds everything together. It was so special to be out and just enjoy time together. Also thankful to not have hit any of the 20 deer that ran out in front of my car. Have a blessed evening everyone filled with the Hope of Jesus!

Overwhelmed in the garden of Eden
in the garden of light,
You held me close, you held me tight.
I felt your presence, I felt your soul.
Your "foolish smile" still holds its youthful glow.
Colorful, radiating, fragrant, and bright;
like cascading wisteria on a Spring morning or aubergine Azaleas on a full moon night...
This was the day I saw your face.
This was the day full of heavenly grace.
This was the day that everything bloomed with delight.
This was the day that my soft petals were held by you...tenderly...
in the garden of light.
Bonaventure Cemetery is aptly named. It was a good adventure on a cool Spring morning. There was a wellspring of life and a flourishing of the soul. The cemetery became public in 1907 and became famous when it was featured in the 1994 novel "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" by John Berendt.
I hope you all have your own good adventures in the upcoming weekend. Thank you for your kind support, favs, and comments. They are much appreciated!

The world is ugly. It has always been ugly. She knew that and grew up overwhelmed by sadness. She saw betrayal and manipulation in every interaction, greed at every street corner. She assumed anyone who approached wanted to cage her and suck the life out of her soul.
She walked through her young life submerged by melancholy, convinced that this was life indeed. Even nature was tainted by cruelty, and the forest down the road was nothing but a dark mass of crooked shapes and threatening sounds.
One day, she wandered further into the woods, along the stream. She did find a little solace in the sound of water rolling over the pebbles, as it hid all the other noises she could not bear. There, in a small clearing, she noticed a painter’s easel. With nobody around, she approached, and stared at the unfinished canvas, expecting to mock yet another pathetic splatter of useless colours.
But for the first time ever, she did not shrug and move on. She stayed there, transfixed. She looked at every detail on the canvas, recognising technical skills at first, but then she looked closer and started to see something moving behind every touch of the brush, a furtive wave, beautiful and fragile, barely noticeable. She had never seen anything like that. She decided to call that "love".
Unfamiliar with the sentiment, she wondered, and slowly looked up from the canvas, to the trees, their leaves, the blades of grass, the glitter of the stream, the dandelion in the breeze, and, instead of irritating high pitched noises, she even heard birds singing. She took it all in and then murmured to herself “so this is beauty”.
She stayed there a little longer, noticed an old stool placed in the high grass, looked at the canvas again, and that empty space right in the middle….She immediately knew. She smiled. And that was new for her as well. She shivered a little, and sat on the stool. She was not worried in the least, she breathed deeply, noticing the perfumes of the woods for the first time ever, and closed her eyes. When she opened them again, he was there, focused, brush in hand, and she murmured again, to him this time, “so this is beauty”……..

I've decided to start an "Emotions in Black and White" series of photos.
This is the second image in the series.
I highlighted the first photo by giving it a name "Overwhelmed."
I will leave the rest up to you.
Not all of the pics will include the face.
Hopefully, the mood of the pic is conveyed.
Let me know what emotion you see in the photo, if at all, for of each photo on Flickr or FB.
Below is the blog post that will contain every image in the Emotions in Black and White collection
Natasha, overwhelmed by work and family, decides to call Alexei. He tells her that he has a business trip and if he could accompany her.
She doesn't have any business trips but she needs to disconnect from her day to day; The boy without asking where or when, says YES!
Destination Santorini. Near the southern tip of the island, near the village of Akrotiri and next to the Red Beach, is the White Beach.
Not, as one might expect, a pristine white sand beach, but a gray sand and pebble beach,
with a wide stretch of white cliffs rising vertically above it. The only means of access is an arduous rock climb across the red beach,
or by water taxi. It is a popular beach with divers, who enjoy exploring the base of the cliffs and rocks that make up the cove,
and those who seek more tranquility than in the neighboring Red Beach. There are a few sun loungers and umbrellas available in the mini beach bar,
which also sells water, drinks and snacks. And there we were Alexei and Natasha enjoying that paradise! That boy with an athletic complexion, with tattoos and piercings,
Caucasian. and thinking about the last sentence that Alexei said... << My greatest wish is to be able to make you feel full,
For this, it is essential that we forge a relationship based on trust, everything remains between us in the strictest confidentiality,
as well as in my desire to satisfy each and every one of your fantasies.>>

I'm revisiting images of the many faces of Keefer Lake, my home. This is a 'redo' of a photo taken in April, 2009. The thickest and strangest fog/mist formed over the ice on the lake in a pastel 'winter blue' I had not seen before. It was like being inside a Salvador Dali painting! Although we often have ice fog we have not had anything quite like this one ever since.

What follows is a (very) short story of mine written in the same year the photo was made ... the story and the photo seemed related somehow - at least to me?
********************************************
'Finding it, solving it, living it.'
Cool blue seemed to describe what he was seeing. It was soon dark and with it he feared he would be left to himself and he knew from experience that was not safe. How to feel it seemed always to be the fundamental problem but there were countless other difficulties that he constantly confronted and tonight seemed no different. Why is it that the ordinary takes priority over the real issue? Laziness, he supposes … do what is in front of you and brighter in your eyes rather than deal with the shadows in your mind, the things that are off to the side.
With the passing of those thoughts the blue was already gone and only patches of grey lined the horizon and shaped the trees and lake in front of him. Black and white would be easier he mused, grey was the problem of course. Joseph had always known that the lake would be the place where he found it and solved it. However, there was little warmth yet and more to be done. It wasn’t a case of deciding where to start because he knew already there was no beginning. He wasn’t even sure if there would be an ending? What to do at any given time about it he had concluded is about energy and attitude and distractions. The right proportions are essential and even distraction is needed in a measured and timely way. He had not seen in any sustained way that magical place … only glimpsing it from time-to-time although that was enough and it kept him coming back. Joseph often claimed that his only enduring trait was curiosity although he was credited by others as having more. He didn’t seem to care or need their praise and usually shrunk from it when it was offered … shyness perhaps, perhaps not? He reasoned that it wasn’t relevant anyway and wouldn’t help with finding it.
Idleness is, a friend of, maybe a prerequisite to the pursuit of it and Joseph had time on his hands now. You had to be sure though that the distractions of idleness didn’t overwhelm the quest. It was too easy to see them as reprieves when really they were quest busters. Peace of mind was not the same as the lack of stress that sometimes accompanies idleness and Joseph believed it was all about finding peace of mind. The glimpses of it had shown him that idleness only provided a useful means for having time to chase after the peace. “Maybe it wasn’t so much as chase, as follow” Joseph concluded. Curious people are often alone with their thoughts and comfortable in them. Thinking is not being idle although it might appear to be that to those observing.

Maybe You can remember a photo of this place I posted some month ago. The clearing was covered by fog and the dominant colour was grey. And now, look at the same place in springtime. I was overwhelmed from that play of colours. Just to realize the amount of green tones is impressive. What an idyllic place. I will come back in summer and autumn, lets see how this is changing during the year.
