Part of a 'don't overthink it' exercise, I did better putting the brush down for this one than I did for Aurora's. First car, first bus, first buildings. Watercolour for JKPP

OK...another shot with some inspiration from Ms. Tuesday (sorry to those who cannot see the inspiration; it's F&F)! Now, it's not a collab for today's roulette, but the content of her post is what got me...
I do not know what end is up or down.
I want things to change, but am unsure how to enact such things.
Afraid of inaction...afraid of acting impudently.
Just afraid...
I think I met the project goals by combining to different image with an interesting composition and pose with the environment.To take this photo I told my friend to put on a pink dress because I wanted her to look like a ballerina/ princess. Then I curled her hair and we found a white bow to finish the look. Next, we got a tiny stool to get her lifted off the ground. I told her to look like she was spinning around. My goal for the picture was to make her look like a ballerina in a jewelry box. I wanted to go somewhere where she can have a reflection while at the same time framing her body like a jewelry box case. I wanted a reflection not only to add more details to the picture and have it looking more like a real jewelry box, but also digging deep into what a reflection is in this photo. The "ballerina" is spinning when she stops and looks at herself and starts feeling self-conscious. Once she stops, she overthinks and her pose becomes unnatural. I wanted this photo to express and exaggeration on ho you look once you doubt yourself.To edit this photo I turned this photo black and white because the color did not do anything but add distracting elements. In addition, I cropped the picture so the framing of the front porch frame the body in a square- like shape. I chose this photo because I liked the meaning behind the picture even if it does not completely come through at first look. Also I liked how the door held her reflection just like a mirror in a jewelry box. In addition I hoe this photo because of how levitation benefited it. Levitation makes this ballerina more elegant. Also instead of a stick holding up the ballerina in a jewelry box she is trying to hold herself up. I think I did well on having a meaning behind the picture and finding a place with a framing and a reflection. I would change not having another post on the other side to make the framing clearer. Also have face a bit more towards her reflection to make this picture little more clearer.

What is one thing you dislike about yourself and what have you done to use it to your own advantage?
"My greatest weakness is my chronic overthinking. I tend to overthink a lot of necessary and unnecessary things in my life -whether it be school, relationships, work, money or even how to be human. I have to constantly remind myself to just coast and look at the bigger picture. It really can become my greatest strength by using it to my advantage. Overthinking has me constantly making back up plans if my initial plans fail. And isn't overthinking a good sign that I'm analytical?" - E.B.
I have anxiety and I overthink things a lot. I thought this photo was a good representation of that.
I had thought it would be pretty easy to get some decent photos of this event, as compared to the usual sports I photograph it is a lot slower. However, there were some problems to work around.
#1 - Depth of field - As the distance between lead dog and handler is so great, a narrow aperture is required to get the whole team in focus. I managed to get away with around F5-6.3, ideally I would have liked to close down further to at least F8, but this brings in another problem;
#2 - Overcast day and mainly very poor light. Using a narrower aperture, and not wanting to drop the shutter speed lower than 1/320 sec meant upping the ISO to around 1000-1250. (I would never have gotten away with this on the old camera)
#3 - Focusing - I didnt have a clue really where to focus. The dogs moved around so much, so quickly, it was really difficult to lock on. The best compromise I think was to focus on the sled.
#4 - Although a slower sport, this brought its own problem in overthinking each shot. With rallying and shinty, there's not much time to think and my brain works automatically in focusing, composing and shooting. Here I had too much time to talk myself out of the shot I was planning and maybe try something different as the team approached, leading to more than one missed shot.
Ah well... there's always next year.

'Anxiety is a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome'. I have anxiety that is when I blow things up out of proportion, and worry about every little problem. What comes along with anxiety, is having panic attacks. For me, there is no set time that they last for. Even though I have had only had a couple, but they have not been pleasant. A 'panic attack is a sudden feeling of acute disabling anxiety'. When I experience one, I start to lose sight of reality, and I make things so much worse than they really are. I take short, fast breaths, I start crying, and I feel as if I am choking on my own thoughts. In my photos, I wanted to go through what panic attacks are like for me, and portray what it is like with water.
I chose to keep these photos in black and white, to block out unnecessary colors, and show how my perception changes. I had my younger brother lay in a bath tub filled with water, and symbolize what I go through during a panic attack, and with anxiety. My younger brother represents me struggling, and the water represents anxiety/a panic attack. The first photo represents how I start to feel uneasy, and start to overthink. I wanted this photo to be a little shaky so that I could represent how my perception starts to change. The second, third, and fourth photo show how I start to get lost in my thoughts, and the disorder is taking ahold of me. They also show how I am trying to breath, but I cannot quite catch my breath. The last photo represents me giving up almost, or trying to calm down while I am still having a panic attack. I like how my series turned out, and I was hoping to communicate what it is like for me when I deal with a panic attack, and anxiety.

I got inspired one night and did a bunch here without much planning. Now I am stalled, and thinking partly of undoing one of the bits here... Maybe I'm just overthinking it. Anyhow, love the citrus stripe there, it's from lotta jansdotter's new line Bella, and it's such a big stripe that it almost looks like it could be pieced.
