Re-processed a quick shot from a couple of years ago. Funny how sometimes it's the quick / spontaneous shots that catch my eye later. I somehow get away with F22 on this lens... sometimes. It's so easy to overthink too much I guess.

Did I say something wrong? Did you hear what I was thinking?

Did I talk way too long when I told you all my feelings that night?

Is it you? Is it me? Did you find somebody better?

Someone who isn't me, 'cause I know that I was never your type

Never really your type

Overthinking's got me drinking

Messing with my head, whoa

Tell me what you hate about me

Whatever it is, I'm sorry

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

I know I can be dramatic

But everybody said we had it

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

I'm coming to terms with a broken heart

I guess that sometimes good things fall apart

When you said it was real, guess I really did believe you

Did you fake how you feel when we parked down by the river that night?

That night?

That night when we fogged up the windows in your best friend's car

'Cause we couldn't leave the windows down in December

Whoa

Tell me what you hate about me

Whatever it is, I'm sorry

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

I know I can be dramatic

But everybody said we had it

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

I'm coming to terms with a broken heart

I guess that sometimes good things fall apart

This creation is the second in my series of bicycles. A 1890s Penny Farthing, leaning against a gas lit lamp post. The scene includes a lace parasol, wicker basket and phonograph. The Penny Farthing was one of the last of its models before "safety" bikes were integrated into society. However Penny Farthings were still used for racing until the 1930s.

This creation was made specifically for LEGO House in mind. When the team showed interest in exhibiting my LaFrance Streamliner and gave me the dimensions of the LEGO House Master Gallery space, I felt that the LaFrance wasn’t enough. The idea of building a Penny Farthing was in my mind for ages but loads of life things got in the way - I moved to England from Canada and decided to move my collection with me, which easily became overwhelming and disorganized. Once I had it all sorted out, a few months later I decided to move to Scotland so again my collection was all over the place! I finally moved in to my flat in Scotland and built non-stop for 2 weeks after work, and finally installed 'Day Out in Autumn' (along with 'Picnic in the City') on September 26 at LEGO House in Denmark.

This past year I’ve taken a long break from LEGO. Along with moving my life across the world and some personal life mishaps I was overwhelmed by the attention Picnic in the City got and felt the pressure of wanting to be sure my next creations were of the same high standard. This made me overthink a lot and overwhelm myself, so a break from the brick was needed. I'm excited to reveal to you guys my latest creation, and can say as well that my next one is shortly on its way. I truly do miss the community and building and have felt really disconnected this last year, hoping to get back into continuous building again.

Credit to Stefan Kubin for the dome technique that I used for the parasol - his colour choices were too perfect too that I used it for my parasol and need to credit him on being an inspiration.

Big hugs to my bestie Iain for doing an amazing job editing my awful photos taken in the most ghetto setup in my small flat. You are a star - TEAM BICYLE!

don't overthink it

So Aneja went back home and both my cat and I are confused. We had a photoshooting yesterday but stupid me forgot to turn from jpeg to raw. I still hope some of the photos will be good enough to publish. My trial version of lightroom expired and I'm thinking aout geting a license.

Well I don't like that photo of myself that much but I wanted to write something. Ahh I'm overthinking again and getting anxious and thinking about watching Beatrix Potter's Petter The Rabbit and later taking a nap. And it's my last day of antibiotics but I'll probably stay at home tonight and tommorow. A lot of things are happening and I'm really sad because I can't go anywhere. So hmmm yes rabbits sound nice and also I'm very surpised I'm not into Halloween spirit this year.

decided to go out to one of my favourite locations and shoot last-minute while the sun was setting! it was beautiful, but my goodness was it cold. Suffered through it though! I'm still so in love with this lens.

I'm home for a little while longer and figured it would be nice to visit a familiar place and shoot. Happy with it!

ps i've also gotten into the habit of not wearing makeup in my shots and I really need to stop doing that. LOL

This is one of those photos that sort of jumped out at me long after it was taken. Happens all the time. I'm out shooting and the shutter is just clicking away. I'm responding to visuals but also quite often the feelings I'm getting. Sometimes I make strong mental connections with what I'm seeing. I might attach some significance to this or that and really go after it, work different camera angles, bracket exposures, etc. Sometimes I return home with dozens of shots of a single subject. All essentially the same, with perhaps just a bit of nuance in between. Always hoping for the definitive shot, just the right light, just the right angle, just the right focus. But there are many other shots in a typical session that are almost careless by comparison. Grab shots I call them. Lift and point the lens; click goes the shutter; onward. I seem to alternate between these two methods and there's little rhyme or reason as to when or why. I love the careless approach because it reminds me of the quick studies we used to do in life drawing class. They were designed to help us learn to capture the human form without overthinking it. Results were more fluid and less likely to appear overworked. This thinking carries right over to photography. And I love it because gems like this often turn up. And as I started to mention, I often don't notice or appreciate these until long after the session. This old gravestone is a case in point. I had passed over it several times as I reviewed the shots from this day. But finally I paused and really looked at it for the first time. Just something about it. Haunting in a way. Poor Hattie died in 1862; she was just 24 years old. It's incredible to me that this stone has stood guard over her grave for the past 157 years, slowly eroding but still conveying the sadness of her passing. Hands carved on gravestones of this era are normally gesturing, fingers pointing up or down; two hands clasped, or praying hands. Here there is simply a raised hand without any sort of gesture; there's no pretense or and real art form to the carving. Despite its simplicity it evokes the the grief that must have occasioned her untimely passing. Hattie's final wave goodbye.

I am posting the original , non tinkered version....because, even though its got issues (in my mind anyways) I kind of like this one better...

Not sure what everyone else thinks

I like this picture in that it breaks the usual rules of composition. The main subject, King's College, is lost in the fog, and so whilst this is what I was trying to get, it's not a very engaging subject itself. Instead, it's the sides that have interest and draw me in as a viewer - I love the little light on the right hand side, and the woods to the left. Here I think the lack of King's is just a vague hook on which to hang the two more interesting margins.

Perhaps I overthink things :)

'When I was younger one of my favorite things about going to visit my cousins for the summer is that they'd give me all of their old fashion & music magazines to take home. Eventually I ended up with quite a lot of them and couldn't hold onto them all but kept a few covers and editions that meant a lot to me.

This one is a recreation of one I still have...somewhere or another in my room. I'm not even sure what about it grabbed me but it was a rich pink and once I stopped overthinking this challenge I just knew I had to draw inspiration from it in!'

Making art makes me feel a better person, it takes my mind off of everything and it helps me not to overthink. May is approaching and that means that exams are approaching. But when school is over I will finally devote myself to taking pictures and making art every. single. day.

I can't wait.

It has been a relatively good and productive one for me, as I finally updated my male cheetah's skin for the current MakeHuman UV, so that now the black mark that was on the neck is no more. I kept complicating the method, until finally something simple came about. It's a reminder not to overthink and over-complicate things in life, regardless how hard it is to keep from trying to make things too sophisticated. For sometimes, if not often the case, what is simpler, is better. =~.^=

This pic was taken in Haven Your World at my home sim Ioh Haven. The sim is still under construction, but you can check out the (very slow) development here:

A wildheart in white just appeared at the edge of the woods.

Adele, with her floral headscarf, sun-kissed curls and that simple white top that leaves a hint of summer skin.

The air smelled faintly sweet and fruity as she stepped out of the woods, half curious, half amused.

Before I could overthink it, my point-and-shoot was already in my hand. One click, one frame, pure instinct.

No posing, no planning, just a quiet moment between trees where a passing beauty turned into a photograph.

I was definitely in need of a hug today, what with overthinking everything. Even though I am working hard at bopo and self love, self compassion is still lagging a bit.

As I don't know what the future is made of, in terms of job and relationships, I am grateful for family and friends.

I will have to hug and kiss them when I see them tomorrow!

After golden hour colors fade to blue, it's time to get creative with an old Saguaro and the moon peaking through its window.

The tripod setup was fantastically complicated as I still overthink getting low to shoot crouched and upwards. Without fail, the spot to frame the shot had a Creosote Bush in the way so the pod legs wouldn't stand flat and were tough to reposition every time the moon moved. After 10+ tries, I think I secured the 2-frame masterpiece. A sharp Saguaro and a blurred moon. Sharp moon and blurred Saguaro. In photoshop, I aligned the images with sharp Saguaro on top, then masked in the sharp moon with an easy blend for the final blow. TKO. I won the imaginary prize of working hard for a mediocre picture.

Side note - the depth of field doesn't make sense, but that's the beauty of digital art - It doesn't make sense when executed poorly.

"But the bell's already been rung... 🔔"

To celebrate the original vision for the DCEU (possibly for the last time) I have to decided to finally complete my custom LEGO Justice League minifigures to celebrate the release of the Snyder Cut on HBO Max.

Even all this time later after the final(?) trailer for Zack Snyder’s Justice League I still didn’t feel like committing to a revival of the project because of just how much the DCEU has disappointed me in the last 5 years.

Then I rewatched Batman v Superman again with Zack Snyder’s commentary playing over it and I finally said f**k it

There is still a tremendous amount of work left for the next Mandalorian S2 showcase, and Falcon’s Captain America suit probably won’t be revealed until the season finale of Falcon and the Winter Soldier, so I likely won’t be able to complete that showcase for some time either (I’m not doing 2 Falcon customs lol). Also, yes Thor & Smart Hulk still stare back at me on my shelf every day demanding answers but it’s always the same: I’m just one guy with only two hands making this s**t up as I go along.

So here we are. The showcase for Zack Snyder’s Justice League is officially happening.

That night while I was sitting there after having just finished watching BvS – I thought…what if I just sculpted the bulk of Aquaman right now? Then I remembered I always wanted to do a showcase for Aquaman (2018) but never got to it. So, why not do that version of Aquaman, but for this?

After flying through most of the sculpting work for Arthur that night and into the following afternoon, I busted out the drills and begun my attack on a monochrome torso.

The idea here was to quickly knock out as much progress as I could on the two most daunting characters so that there would be no excuse to not follow through with this.

Now, I know myself so I’m not biting off more than I can chew. I do want to move on with my life after this and committing to full bigfigs of the new Steppenwolf or Darkseid would probably be the end of me. That’s work I would much rather put into Armored Thanos eventually.

Here’s the full breakdown of where I’m at with these:

Batman

Everything on this guy except for the legs was practically done. You’ll find throughout the rest of this that I’ve never been a fan of working on legs. I’ve talked about it a bit before, but the legs are always the last thing I do on my customs. Likely won’t be doing any extra accessories for the bat.

Superman

Of course, Zack Snyder is doing the black suit in his new version of the film. I was working on the bright blue version in 2017, so basically everything here is going to have to be scrapped except for the painted Life Brick hairpiece. I pretty much already know how I want to make black suit Superman, just have to potentially order a certain torso to use as a base. Going to attempt a whole new painted face too inspired by the original one.

Wonder Woman

This figure was practically done tooexcept for the borrowed BvS legs. Literally just have to paint her own set of boots and that’s it for Diana.

The Flash

This one was a little tragic for me actually because as you can see, I made a ton of progress on Ezra Miller’s Flash in 2017, and I’ve always been proud of it even though I never finished him. It’ll take a good amount of work on the back and the legs to bring it the rest of the way but I’m excited to finally do so.

Aquaman

As I said, I have made a good amount of progress now on the solo movie version of Arthur and it’s coming along great. Still have some sculpting work to do on the legs and the back of the belt, but otherwise it’ll just be painting scales after that. Those patterns should be fun lol. I’ve even got a pretty sick trident coming in from LeyiLe Brick eventually too (praying the shipping won’t take too long).

Cyborg

I remember overthinking and dreading the hell out of this in 2017, but after learning the lesson that sculpting is a “layer by layer” / “piece by piece” process over these last few years most of those fears have mostly fallen away. Some of the techniques I’ve picked up since then have been incredibly useful too. Sculpting still takes an ungodly amount of time though.

Anyway, as I mentioned above, I drilled into the front and back of Victor’s eventual torso here so that I could individually insert individual threads of procreate before building onto it. It’s actually been a fairly enjoyable process believe it or not and I think this is already the most detailed sculpt I’ve ever done. It’ll look even better painted.

The goal is to be done within the next month for a showcase to celebrate the launch of Zack’s true version of Justice League on HBO Max by March 18th. That’s assuming the trident comes in on time…

I would also like to note that I watched Mr. Robot in its entirety on Amazon Prime while doing most of this and it was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen in my life.

It's some grim buildings, overlooking my work car park - in a section reserved for library employees (so I managed to get some parking signs in too). Pretty much standard stuff for me.

Not my best photo, but I've enjoyed creating the album I've put these in, called Carlisle The Grim, this year.

I've not painted the city in a great light. Even on the rare occasions there's been great light. I was thinking about why I've enjoyed this and it is to do with belonging somewhere imperfect - physically and mentally.

I was born here, moved away, and eventually returned. It isn't perfect by any stretch but it feels closer than anywhere as 'where I'm from'. It's flawed, as I am. And I've become comfortable with some of its faults and failings as I have with some of my own. Ultimately I've learned to embrace some imperfections in me (introvert/miserable git) and become comfortable in that. Somehow this city fits that feeling.

Or, it's just a shabby building in a gallery of shabby buildings. One of the two.

Fading glory…

An aluminum landing craft docked along the Magnetawan River. While now a fading and chipped drab and rather industrial grey colour, the residual red paint makes me wonder if this seemingly privately-owned utility / landing craft was originally used for more exciting purposes, perhaps fire rescue? That said, a long (and frustrating) internet search, revealed that the Magnetawan Fire department does not presently conduct water rescue, with no indication that it ever did. So, perhaps I’m overthinking this and the current or previous owner, simply liked red paint… 😊

Manufacturers of aluminum landing craft suggest that these work boats can be used for a vast range of tasks including spill recovery, waterway maintenance, and fire rescue. And certainly, variants of landing crafts are used throughout North America in fire rescue… Depending upon their size and focus of work, they can be outfitted with a variety of outboard motors - this particular one had two very large and very powerful outboard motors. Their large and stable hull afford the luxury of carrying a broad range of loads - both in size and weight. Moreover their bow ramp allows easy loading and unloading of equipment and utility vehicles.

"his scent lingers"

i had bigger things planned for this photo, but sadly, i haven't been able to get photoshop on my new laptop yet, so i had to mess around with these wierd new things that come with Windows 8.

in a way this kind of represents how i feel, like i take things to heart REALLY easily. even the smallest of things i overthink and completely overreact. just a simple conversation fills my thoughts for hours. all i want to do is stop thinking about all these things, but this is life right?

its becoming more and more difficult to write this as 'Billy jean' just came on my pandora and i feel a dance coming on. xo

hi I'm nonbinary and use they/them pronouns

I was going to post something longer but I keep overthinking it and scrapping my drafts and missing coming-out day, so maybe brevity is better.

I have a couple new Lego builds in the works, btw 😁

This cactus has sparked my curiosity. I'm no plant expert, but I thought I could identify the difference between a Saguaro and other similar species if tested. I had to return to this magnificent loner and wait for it to talk to me. But before that…

After a side by side comparison with a nearby Saguaro, pleats are spaced farther apart on the Saguaro with spines nearly identical. Stem and branch texture are pretty much the same. During flowering a month ago, flowers were plentiful and grew down stem which is a clear indicator of a Cardon. However, local reports this season have identified Saguaros with flowers growing down stem and branch. Ahh! aNyWaY...

As I listened for answers, a possible explanation was whispered. Well two actually.

First; the main stem was perfectly damaged early in life which gave way for the low branches to grow as replacement stems. All 4 branches, thinking they're stems, grew in harmony to survive the plant.

Second; decades earlier, a Hummingbird cross pollinated a Cardon flower with Saguaro pollen. Monsoon floods took the unique seed to the area and viola, hybrid!

Or maybe I’m overthinking this and it’s just a Cardon. The only Cardon in the entire 250 sq mile wilderness.

98% of my problems would be solved if I stopped overthinking things and calmed the fuck down.

Now thats just me thinking out loud :) i really need to slow down when I'm out shooting

an overload of ice in the lagoon

Rosguill Peninsula, Downings, County Donegal, Ireland

This tranquil bay 'Tra na Rossan' differs from many other beaches, due to it being seated between these giant rocky hills on either side. On the slopes of these hills grow lush green fern, wildflowers & purple bloom heather. Like many beaches dotted along this peninsula of Rosguill, it's waters shimmer the most stunning shades of emerald & turquoise imaginable 🌊

If you zoom in & look along this sandy cove you may see a few folk simply gazing into this sunset. This is something I notice more so on 'Tra Na Rossan' than on other beaches I’ve walked. Maybe it's just coincidence but on every visit, people seem to be statue like, sitting on the dunes or standing on the water’s edge. They all seem to be in a trance looking outwards into the sun. As soon as it sets all returns to normal in an instant & they snap out of their little trances & rush back to their cars to beat the Atlantic chill that follows….. Maybe I’m overthinking again but that’s how I observe it on this beach ⛱

Hope you enjoy! Please Favourite & Follow to view my newest upcoming works, Thank you

At the coffee stand I started thinking too hard about this warning and that's where the danger came, not the heat. My pontification went something like this :

- The "Caution: Hot!" was covered by my hand before I put it down and after at least three careful sips

- If you can't read sideways then you're going to pour the hot contents on the floor, yourself or someone else

- After a while the warning lies...

- Come to think of it, it lied before the contents were poured in. In fact, for very little of this paper cup's short life is it actually hot.

- I need to invent some sort of light and heat sensitive ink for warning signs on cups so that the warning is only displayed when the cup is actually hot and when not covered by hands (I guess that may be overkill though)

- The warning may have to include something about overthinking before having a coffee....

Day 291

Stopped in for a cup of coffee trying to think what to shoot today. Decided not to overthink it.

Warp teleports to the lab where Brain is studying something that looks like dna.

Wrp: "Sir, Batman and his allies have invaded the compound."

Brain: "Where are Phobia and Plasmus?"

Wrp: "Outside. They're waiting for us."

Brain: *Sigh* "The compound is lost. Get Phobia and Plasmus in here."

Wrp: "Yes sir."

Warp teleports away and gets back with Phobia and Plasmus.

Brain: "Phobia, Warp collect the data. Especially the gorilla dna and research. Plasmus, as soon as we're outside, burn it all."

They start to do their tasks, and Plasmus burns the lab down. They head to Strange's office. As they enter, Strange's doesn't seem happy.

HS: "What the hell happened in the lab?! Why is it burning down?"

Brain: "The compound is lost, Hugo. This fight is lost. I want to get the Brotherhood and me safely out of here, while we still can."

HS: "Don't you dare leave me."

Brain: "I'm very sorry, but your plan failed. I have no further intention to be a part of it."

HS: "I will hunt you down."

Brain: "You're welcome to try. Warp, get us out of here."

Warp nodds and he teleports the Brotherhood of Evil away. Hugo throws a mug against the wall as he realises he lost. Hugo starts to pack a suitcase and starts to overthink every escape possibility. As he thinks, his window breaks, and a flashbang is thrown inside, which explodes as Red Hood bursts through the window armed with his shotgun.

(So I tried something different today. I decided to put more pictures in one frame. Tell if it's an improvement, and I'll probably keep dong it!)
