"Overflowing Sunset:" I captured this image last week at the Headwaters of the Verde River north of Prescott after some high-volume rain and snow-melt had filled up the normally dry Sullivan Lake and caused a raging waterfall to cascade over the dam. Part of a dormant bush growing out of a crack in the wall toward the right of the dam was turned frosty white from all the cold water spray and reminded me of hoarfrost I had previously seen only a couple times before on very cold mornings. The lichen pattern on the rocks on the left also caught my eye. Of course, I wanted to include this gorgeous sunset to cap it off.
After last nights heavy rain I seized the opportunity to go back for a look. When there's a heavy overflow it makes one hell of a rumble.
I need to pick up a darker soft grad ND to help control the skies I think.
Plus I have lots of dust bunnies at small apertures.
The Fountain Overflows by Rebecca West. Published in 1957 and based on her own childhood this is a wonderfully evocative book which I remember loving when I read it many years ago - I just searched for it on my bookshelves and am going to reread it. For the Smile on Saturday challenge to illustrate a book title. The fountain is at Borde Hill Gardens in Sussex
This long Exposure of a rock that's getting pounded by waves took me 45 minutes of waiting for the perfect moment. This was taken at Laguna Beach, California, and was taken mid-day.
Right, time to hold my hands up. My Venice photos are still not done. Unfortunately my laptop has crawled to a the pace of a lethargic snail, and until I buy a new laptop (soon!), there will be limited photo editing opportunities.
Mona Vale Tidal Pool
New South Wales
At the end of our recent holiday, Marianne and I were based at Manly where we had easy access to the Northern beaches of Sydney. Even though the skies were clear, the tidal pools themselves can make for fascinating subjects (especially for those who don't have them back home). I struggled with compositions of the entire pool so I decided to focus on one particular segment instead.

When shooting this I was envisioning it as a black and white, when i started to process it I decided to do a colour version as well.
Hey guys!
I finally managed it to built something again. You will soon see it, but for now, we will remain with this small teaser.

Not normally a fan of HDR but as my camera has the function thought I'd try it out. This image was shot down by the side on nottingham canal near the city center.
Rifugio Auronzo near the Tre Cime Lavaredo. The clouds in the valley took most of the light pollution away.

The Spa Pool at Wyadup Rocks in the south west region of Western Australia is a popular location with tourists and photographers.
Not the most technically correct photo I took, but then what I care most often for at the moment is the mood and atmosphere of the scene.

I think this is the last picture from my amazing shoot with Sherrie. I love her look so much and I kinda think here she looks like a fairy, so I wanted to play with that idea and create like a magical dream land around her.
It's the last night of my holiday up here in Scotland and although I'm a bit disspointed i didn't get to shoot a concept i've been sooo busy editing and researching that I just didn't have the time. I suppose it's nice just to have a break too...
In other news... I made a Facebook Photography page, so if you'd like to go and take a look at that, that would be great :)

We had to spend most of the day inside because of the after effects of Cyclone Alfred - so here is water overflowing from my gutters.

Some wonderful hill fog running over the Ochill Hills at sunrise, a few days ago, with the Wallace Monument just breaking through (A 3 shot panoramic stitch).
The monsoons are kicking in and the tide timings have changed, only problem during the monsoons is that there is a lot of dirt in the water and the color of the water is actually brown, had to reduce the yellow saturation to get rid of most of the yellow.
The good thing about the monsoons is the swells are rougher and slightly bigger than normal now that is something I like.
The edges are dark since I wanted to try using both my 3 stop grad and a 3 stop rev grad filter to see what happens, tried lightening it but didn't work.
I am not 100 % happy with the edit and may re edit at a later date, however would love to hear your feedback on what you think.
Thanks and have an awesome day.
