We traveled to Sequoia National Park in winter. It's a challenging time to visit this location, even when there isn't a federal government shutdown reducing the staff to only the essential rangers required for safety.
Unfortunately, though near the entrance the skies were relatively clear, and the temperatures were in the 50s, the conditions at elevation were thick fog with ice covered roads. Worse, many people were taking advantage of the free entry to the park and ignoring the posted signs for snow chains. So, getting to the Sequoia groves proved impossible, and we returned to our hotel, but not before seeing these beautiful gnarled old oak trees near the entrance in the soft warm setting sunlight.
Visit Sequoia National Park; but, be advised, winter travel can be difficult, and give the rangers their due - especially when they are working at skeleton levels with no pay during a government shutdown!

What happens when you get two days off in the middle of the week? Your rewarded with cold, gray, and overcast days. I went to a local lake thinking I would shoot some long exposures with these dead trees sticking out of the water but it turned out that the water was so still that all I needed to do was compose the image.
I found this area with some rocks above the water and played around with it. I ended up lightening up the foreground rocks to add an element to the viewer. Not sure if it works well or not but it was the best capture of the day. As always, thank you so much for viewing my images and commenting when you see fit. Take care.

A small bridge over the river Our near Vianden. The river flows along the border of Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg.
In the previous photograph I explained the physical law of entropy. It is actually the most fundamental law in the universe. The only way entropy can be overcome is with an additional input of energy, i.e. work.
Here we see a once workable hut reduced to a ruin by the law of entropy. All things must return to their natural state. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. You get the idea. So here we see the old hut's iron roof rusting away, its wooden boards rotten, and within a few short years (perhaps less) it will collapse with only the brick chimney left standing.
Already the trees are starting to grow inside and twist the building around on its axis. I didn't go inside because I'll wager there were one or two snakes in there too. And all Tasmanian snakes are venomous.

After overcoming a 350 meters difference, we arrive at this rock fields which occur mainly at altitudes above 900 meters. Here the average altitude on the plateau is 1,300 meters.

Climbing up the hill in challenge to overcome the fog. It is spreading very high and very far, but it won't last. The sun is winning the battle and restores the morning in order of light. Few more moments for random photographer to take some shots of this amazing phenomenon. Fog in the summer forest...

En revenant vers le gopuram qui surmonte la porte d'entrée du complexe religieux de Srirangam à Trichy , j'avais l'impression de contempler un escalier vers le ciel. Le Rajagopuram ("la tour du roi") a été terminé en 1987, et fait 73 m de haut. C'est un des plus hauts gopurams en l'Inde.

Back to the gopuram that overcomes the entrance into Srirangam religious city in Trichy , i had the impression of contemplating a stairway to heaven. The Rajagopuram ("the tower of the king") has been completed in 1987 and is 73 meters high (236 ft). It is one of the tallest gopuram in India
