Overcast describes a condition where clouds obscure the entire sky. The color of the clouds can vary from light and white to dark and black. Most of the time, you will see the clouds as various shades of gray. The clouds don't hover on the ground like you might see with fog. Instead, the sheet of clouds seems to kiss the mountaintops.

I shot the landscape in northern California and the sky in southern California (we do get an occasional stormy day).
AN OVERCAST SUNRISE
I wasn’t sure about going down to the river this morning, but went anyway and I’m glad that I did. Not much of a sunrise but never the less there was beauty in it...great view and peaceful. I tried different settings on all 3 shots.

Change is happening fast now as Autumn starts giving way to Winter...the rain will speed the changes along so I walked the woods around the lake soaking in the leaves until dark and getting my mind around the changes. Colder golf and more coffee! :-) Have a great week and Happy Halloween my friends!

The Chilterns, northwest of London, are sometimes mistaken for hills. Geologically speaking, they are a slightly tilted limestone table, flat that is, into which the water has cut valleys. At the end of the power lines you would find such a valley, that of the River Ver. Fuji X100F.
On a ferry trip from Harlingen, Friesland, towards one of the most beautiful islands of the Netherlands, called Terschelling, I encountered these threatening grey clouds. A glimpse of the sun gave a beautiful yellowish glow to the sails of the small vessel. The small ship reveals the vast open space of the Wadden Sea. I really love these open landscapes.
