Up at the crack of dawn after spending a cold night in the van waiting for the main dump of snow to arrive. We set off with the sun rising and a sprinkling of snow, reaching our destination after numerous stops some three hours later. Then the snow started, big time. A slow walk back across the moors in the blizzard conditions with a lot more stops along the way.
I absolutely adore Derfel Cadarn and his epic castle skills. So, naturally, I HAD to try out his castle tower technique for myself.
I am really pleased with the whole build. I think it's one of my best.

Much of the plant life at White Sands National Park huddles together in the basins between the gypsum dunes but the occasional exceptions stand out in stark relief. At least until they are buried by the next round of shifting waves.
During the plague, many sought safety in the vast wilderness of the hills. In the end those without the antidote all suffered the same death. A lone satellite outpost now bears witness to the decay and rebirth of civilization.

This was an important outpost on the old Santa Fe Trail, active from 1851 to 1891. Wagon wheel ruts are still visible, if you know where to look.
The shutter was open for 30 seconds, and I never knew the seagull was there until I downloaded the camera roll.
An isolated outpost in the middle of nowhere. The starting and finishing point to our incredible day hike through the Landmannalaugar lava field and valley in Iceland. This oasis came complete with pay toilets! I took so many photos of the glorious surrounding scenery that I am still post processing them 5 years later.
