... and don't trample on the flowers 😉 This is the view back to the Faltschnaljoch (2.415 m), a shot from a pretty long hike yesterday, Here's a track of the tour that I recorded last year:

According to the sign on the post, fishing is only allowed from November through March. Essentially, that means only ice fishing.

Presumably, the reason for this restriction is that this is a large and popular marina. It's very busy in April through October with all manner of boats, from small to very large.

Ravines and urban forests are one of the natural wonders of Toronto. They cut deep through the city while urban life carries on above them. They offer Torontonians many kilometres of natural paths and a way to stay connected to nature's diversity.

Thank you in advance to everyone who visits, comments and/or faves my picture. They are all immensely appreciated.

Good luck to these guys--not to catch a big fish. Rather, good luck--hope you don't fall through the ice this late in the season.

Furthermore, though I've heard that the walleyes are "running", I have only seen very small fish being caught.

This beautiful tour was the second attempt to visit the Spronser lakes for photos, this time starting on the other side and crossing the Spronser Joch (2.580m). When we approached the lakes from the top everything was covered in clouds again, so here's a pic from the sunny ascent in the morning 😉☀️ You can find the track of the tour that I recorded in the first comment and here:

On the Jägersteig (Hunter's trail, you can see the trail winding up the mountain to the clouds 😉) on the way to the Spronser Lakes (see first comment). After some time in the mountains you really know what "Getting away from it all" means 😄 Have a happy weekend everybody ☀️You can find the track of the tour that I recorded here: www.outdooractive.com/de/r/222151361?share=%7Ezqy7vrxk%24...

Another one from the hiking tour to the Spronser Lakes. When we arrived at the point where you normally have a fantastic view over some of the lakes the clouds thickened and you could only catch a glimpse of a lake through a gap now and then.

Wish you a sunny weekend without any clouds ☀️😉 TGIF!

This time I only made it to the lower lakes on my hike. Then the clouds started to come down and it got pretty cold. This lake is one of the two lowest and is called Kasersee (2.117m) or "Kaserlacke" 😉

The Spronser Lakes (German: Spronser Seenplatte; Italian: Laghi di Sopranes) is the largest group of high elevation lakes in the Alps, located in South Tyrol, Italy. They were eroded by glaciers on a relatively limited area at altitudes from 2117 to 2598 m or left behind in the rocks of the ancient gneises, granite gneisses, and mica schists.

Well that cheered me up! I've been meaning to return to the Dee Valley for ages. I had unfinished business ever since I failed to complete (well, start) a walk in the Llantysilio Mountains, due to howling winds that made it impossible to stand up (yeah, I'm a wimp). What this walk lacked in distance, it made up for in ascent and sublime autumnal views.

www.outdooractive.com/en/track/llantysilio-mountain-on-22...

Shame my flipping phone decided to restart at the beginning of the walk!

Anyway, just love this view over to the Eglwyseg Escarpment.

My goofy four-legged kid “Bingo” swims back after fetching her ball in the lake.

Before setting off I'd decided I definitely wasn't going up Loughrigg. Nope. Reason being I had a walk planned which meant I'd need every scrap of energy I could muster. Arrive at Elterwater. Oh, an inversion. Loughrigg it is then!

The walk was almost abandoned at Lingmoor. I sat for an hour in full waterproofs watching the rain showers sweep over the Langdale Pikes. Then it cleared a touch and I found myself calculating whether I could complete the walk in the light. Before I knew it I was off. Finished without needing my headtorch, just! Forgot how unpleasant that descent is though just past Megs Gill. Avoiding that one next time! But what a day, amazing.

Have a relaxing and joyful weekend!

I've wanted to do the Ennerdale Horseshoe ever since my dear old Dad told me he failed on it twice for many years now. I'd been keeping an eye the forecast on any free weekends, but it wasn't until this one that the stars finally aligned. A last minute hotel room booked, and timings worked out. Of course I wanted to be at the top of the first hill by dawn. 12:15 alarm call? Oh, alright. Sleep? None. Never mind!

I'd planned my route around the Ennerdale fell race one. But then it seemed a shame to miss out the extra tops so they got done as well. Starling Dodd? OK. Great Gable? Yep! Steeple? It's only 10 minutes each way.

Surprisingly, for one of my days out it all went remarkably smoothly. Except on Pillar I realised that faffing with photos meant I was going to be hard pushed to make it back for hotel check-in... Oh. Better walk a little faster. Think I averaged about 4mph for the last 9 miles 😅 Did I make it? Yep! Arrived at the hotel at 21:59... 😁

I'll catch up with you all in a bit! Need sleep.

P.s. I didn't sprain my ankle this time! Quite possibly the best day out on the the hill I've ever done.

Always worth learning/naming the Mountains in Snowdonia. Just done a bit of research of Y Aran on the walking app(Outdooractive), It looks like a great walk! Rebecca said it looks like a mini Tryfan :)

Archaeological findings have shown that Sárospatak area has been inhabited since prehistoric times. The town itself became a royal property in the 11th century. The construction of the castle began in the 16th century by Péter Perényi, who acquired the area past the battle of Mohács. Besides the walls, the five-storey keep of the castle was also built then by Italian master builder Alessandro Vedani in late-Rennaissance style.

Past the extinction of Perényis, the castle changed hands more times until 1616, when it passed into the hands of György Rákóczi (Prince of Transylvania from 1630) by marriage (with Zsuzsanna Lorántffy). In the 1640s, considerable extension works began and the famous Lorántffy wing and loggia were constructed. The castle served as the headquarters for kuruc activities during Rákóczi’s War of Independence and the Diet of 1708 was held here too. After the war the castle was confiscated by the Habsburgs and acquired by Prince Trautson and then Prince Bretzenheim. Constructions in this period added Baroque, Romantic and eclectic elements to the design. After WW2 the castle was nationalized.

The word sail, a monument to poetry, is the name of a steel sculpture by Heinrich Popp.

The sculpture stands on an open field northwest of Sotzweiler, the birthplace of the sculptor and today a district of the Saarland municipality of Tholey in the district of St. Wendel. On an elevation of about 338 metres above NHN, the sculpture represents a landmark visible from afar.

The word sail consists of two sail-shaped triangles, one of which stands on the top and which are twisted against each other. The two halves of the sail, made of stainless steel, are welded together at their highest point. At the same time, the empty space between the two steel plates also has a sail-like shape, depending on the point of view.

The monument, a gift from Heinrich Popp to his home community, was erected in 2005 after several years of planning and execution. The two steel plates were cast in the Dillinger Hütte and rolled to a thickness of 3 cm. The sculpture has a height of 13 meters and a total weight of approx. 30 tons.

The term word sail is also the name of a writing and poetry competition initiated by the artist at participating schools in Saarland.
