SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN CHRIST JESUS ALONE!

1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.
9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus died that death for YOU and I. The good news is there no more punishment for sin left, we were and are all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Lately I found my mind wandering as we wind ourselves into the new year of 2023. I decided to do a more thoughtful pose to work with some PS tools I've neglected for far too long to get the hang of them. Maybe, hah. Working in extreme closeup made me appreciate the work put into the eyebrows and eyes by Landgraff (his Unholy eyes are really cool), the brows alone are nicely detailed down to the tiniest hair and added scar. I'm wearing Cubic Cherry's spectacles to add to the haughty look.

“Do not keep silent”
This is an excerpt of a speech that Aleksey Navalny gave in a Moscow court during his show trial in 2021 before being sentenced to camp imprisonment. I haven’t found an official translation into English, so I’m giving it a try myself… everything this English version lacks in style, clarity and possibly grammar is only due to my limited capabilities.
“What does this toad sitting on a pipeline fear the most? What do these thieves in their bunkers fear the most? You know it perfectly well. They fear people taking to the streets. (…) This thievish old man is sitting in his bunker and is shivering with fear. They are afraid! That’s the only reason that everything happening is so rushed, so secretive, hurried and hushed. They are afraid, and they are afraid of you. They are afraid of people who no longer are willing to silently endure, of people who recognize their power and realize that they are unstoppable. People who wonder: “Why is all of Russia supposed to bow down to a Putin, a Sechin, some Rotenbergs, to this bunch of monstrous crooks?” It will all stop as soon as we realize this and take to the streets; it will vanish into thin air. Every day we keep losing possibilities that we still have today; every day we lose a bit of future. It has been like that for twenty years. For twenty years we have been getting poorer and poorer, our country has been degenerating. Our education has been worsening, our health system is getting more run-down by the day.
No one but we ourselves can stop this. This is why I appeal to you: Do not keep silent! Make a stand! Take to the streets! Nobody but we can protect ourselves. And we are so many; if we really want to achieve something, we can do it.”

On Saturday Karen and I found ourselves wandering through Heart Lake Conservation area. It was an unseasonably warm day for the first week of November; the early morning sky had just cleared and wispy clouds floated across the brilliant blue expanse of the sky playing with the light from the blazing sun. The lakes surface was covered in small ripples as the light wind stirred them towards the shore, the surrounding trees stood like brightly coloured sentinels in keeping watch over the activities of the birds that floated effortlessly on the breeze.

Neowise was addicting for us and we found ourselves where the skis were predicted to be clear. We ended up at Carrizo Plains on this night and I was able to get both the setting moon and the Comet . The moon is actually just a crescent, but with the 10 second exposure it appeared fuller.
An interesting note: The Satellite WISE was launched from our very own Vandenberg AFB on 12/14/2009 for the purpose of Wide Field Infared exploration. In Sept of 2010 it ran out of the necessary cooling hydrogen for that purpose and went into hibernation. It was reactivated in Sept of 2013 to use the still viable camera to search for Near Earth Objects (NEO), thus officially being renamed to NEOWISE. It discovered the Comet which they also named NEOWISE in March of 2020.

Here, we find ourselves back in San Diego, on the trolley ride through Balboa Park. These colours made me feel like I was breathing in more deeply than I had in so long, somehow.
To my dear contacts who are so very sweet… I wish I could fully express how much I appreciate you. I have recently received several lovely and delightful Flickrmails that I really needed on this otherwise frustrating day. I cannot thank you enough for these messages, as well as all of you for your wonderful streams, your frequent support, comments, faves, and general coolness. Yay to you. I hope I get the opportunity to meet some of you in my upcoming travels.
for Macro Mondays: celebration
Christmas mincemeat
1 medium cooking apple, peeled, cored, chopped small * 4oz brown sugar * 8oz veg suet
8oz sultanas * 8oz raisins * 8oz currants * 4oz mixed peel
zest & juice of 1 lemon * 3 tablespoons sherry or brandy
Put all into a large bowl, mix well, cover with clingfilm, leave to stand a few days, stirring each day, spoon into jars.
I usually give most jars away visiting friends before Christmas but this year we will eat it all ourselves.....

On Saturday Karen and I found ourselves wandering through Heart Lake Conservation area. It was an unseasonably warm day for the first week of November; the early morning sky had just cleared and wispy clouds floated across the brilliant blue expanse of the sky playing with the light from the blazing sun. the leaves of the trees were bursting in radiant colours this one was crimson and red beautifully silhouetted against the pale blue sky.

All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

The good news is there no more punishment for sin left, we were and are all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. I love this quote because it portrays perfectly how immersing yourself in nature can help calm your mind. When we’re in awe of the natural world, it makes us forget about everyday problems for a while. Driving along the north shore of Minnesota may not have been as immersive as hiking in the backcountry, but it was still restorative for us. We stopped a lot, hiked short hikes, and all around were in awe of the beauty we found ourselves in.

We had the beach all to ourselves yesterday. No wonder, it was kind of cold! Della doesn't mind the cold with that big heavy coat she has. The tide was going out and she was kind of sinking into the sand here.
It was a hot, muggy day and wasn’t that much cooler by the Great Lakes. When we stopped at Wells State Park, we were planning on spending the night camping at one of the three rustic campsites. After relaxing by the lake with our feet in the water for a while (the site was right next to the lake) we decided to head home instead. We’ve learned that it’s okay to not stick to plans if they’re not serving us. Having the van has made changing up things so much easier and we find ourselves rarely sticking to the original plan we had 100%. We’ve found a lot of great adventures doing things on a whim!

So we find ourselves back in 1971 again at the canoe lake at Sandown on the Isle Of Wight. Another slide restoration providing an interesting scene.
A Hillman Minx and an Austin Countryman have brought families here today. The Minx was in production until 1966 but the registration and lack of wheel
trims are showing its age, and I suspect pre-1963. The Countryman remained in production until 1962 (although the van version went onto 1968) , so they are both probably 10 years old at least.
I'm hoping a someone local can tell me more as I think the lake was awaiting redevelopment of the area, and how far that has got I'm not sure. I don't think it has been in use for some time now.
