Fool on the Hill is the fourth studio album by Sérgio Mendes and Brasil '66 released in 1968.
This is the first album featuring the second edition of Brasil '66. Mendes replaced all of the original band members (with the exception of lead singer Lani Hall). The dismissed members went on to form the short-lived group, The Carnival, which released one self-titled album in 1969. This is also the first appearance of Gracinha Leporace in a Sérgio Mendes album.
The album features two top 10 pop singles: the title track and 'Scarborough Fair'. The Simon & Garfunkel cover was featured in both the trailer and the soundtrack for the 1973 film Heavy Traffic.

oscar castro-neves' guitar playing at scullers was awesome (as you'd expect) with lots of really great harmonic and rhythmic comping and excellent (if not understated) solos. well, except for that one crazy solo where he used the midi synth (no joke), which totally blew us away
he also played and sang an amazing version of a.c. jobim's "the waters of march," which was nice because it's the one tune that robyn actually recognized!
Live in performance - Jazz Alley, Seattle - 26 Feb 2004
Featuring Oscar Castro Neves on guitar, and Kenny Werner on Piano
Oscar Castro-Neves, the great Brazilian guitarist who was one of the innovators of the Bossa Nova style.
We were deeply honoured when these two great men took time out from rehearsals to talk to us, as well as to give us preview of what’s to expect over the next 2 nights.

This years venue for smooth rhythms of bossa nova to the irresistible beats of the samba drum featuring Oscar Castro-Neves & Airto Moreira.
As well as performance of Puccini's epic final opera, Turandot.
Glorious music under the starry skies of our beautiful city.
the show was very casual, and toots and the other guys did joke around a fair amount on the stage. it's really nice to see these absolute top-notch jazz legends get up and do an amazing set, but also show that they're just doing what they love and having fun
Sergio Mendes Presents Lobo is a 1971 album by Edu Lobo, produced by Sergio Mendes.
Billboard magazine reviewed the album in their April 24, 1971 issue and wrote that ''To Say Goodbye' and 'Ponterio' are outstanding vocals'.
Richard S. Ginnell reviewed the reissue of the album for Allmusic and wrote that the album 'overflows with cunningly devised, first-class tunes' and that Lobo excelled at the use of 'sharp scatted syllables' in place of lyrics on some of the songs. Ginnell highlighted #HermetoPascoal's 'playful and enigmatic electric piano and flute multiphonics' and the 'multifaceted percussion talents' of Airto Moreira. Ginnell concluded that 'Collectors of Brazilian jazz should seek this one out; it is absolutely essential'.

I have a rare and beautiful story to share about a special LP — Nana Caymmi – Nâna.
A few months ago, my nephew Joey, who goes by the DJ name DJ Nobunaga, spent two months in Brazil. I asked him if, by any chance, he could look for this specific album while he was there. It's quite rare, and I never expected much — but on the very last few days of his stay, he found it for me. Of course, it cost a bit, given its rarity, but what a beautiful stroke of luck and timing.
Three months after I finally held this treasured album in my hands, Nana Caymmi passed away. It was bittersweet — deeply sad, but also filled with gratitude. There was something so touching, even symbolic, about receiving this record just before she left us.
It feels incredibly special that I was able to get this album, not just as a fan, but as a personal, emotional moment tied to her legacy.
On this album, a few tracks are arranged with a beautiful orchestra — delicate strings and violins in the background — creating a soundscape that instantly evokes the feeling of something Arthur Verocai might have composed or conducted.
