Oceans so deep, so blue
what treasures have you?
shiny shells iridescent gleam
sparkling colours of emerald green, when washed ashore it's shells galore, "Oh' shiny gleam where have thy been my beautiful ocean dream."

I discovered these little shiny pearly iridescent shell buttons in my mothers sewing box and thought "ah ha!" those might look nice for "Macro Mondays" this week with a challenge topic of Buttons.
These little buttons were photographed inside a Abalone shell I have, so back to the beginning maybe, I partially filled the shell with water to hopefully enhance the marine theme.
These buttons have a nobel opalescent sheen and usually cut from freshwater mollusc shells, there once was a time probably a century ago where 37% of the world's buttons came from freshwater shells from the Mississippi river, Iowa, USA.
This macro image is under 2 inches x 2 inches overall, so way under the required measurements.
So . . . I so rarely physically write anything - not even checks since all we ever use is a check card . . . but I DO write all my poetry and prose by hand- just never around and around like this!
THAT being said, my handwriting is THE worst! Worse, I'm sure, than whenever I first learned to write in cursive. :)

Cassiopeia
Cassiopeia you whispered
As you traced your finger along the freckles on my chest
Our tongues touch into orbit
We fuse, melt and smolder
Your fingers burning my skin
Leaving a scar upon my heart
Star bound and saddened
I knew you would go
The pull of the Moon
Taking you from me
Curving, turning, twisting
I watched you take flight
Only the night sky
Was left to hold
That and the atlas that you burned into my breast

Burdened bitch
Queen of vanity
Consumed with conceit
I shutter, sigh and descend down to the earth
Tracing my finger along the assemblage of stars
A constellation
