Central agricultural region of Majorca - such a contrast to the tourist coastal areas. The climate is so favourable that the farmers - those that have remained and not joined up with hotels - are able to make 3 crops a year. Here the first wheat filed had been harvested and was being prepared for the next rotation.
Farming is organic and fertiliser is supplied by the councils through the collection of coastal seaweed which after decomposition is shipped inland. The background shows the Tramuntera mountains rising from the lowlands.
This photo depicts a Radiant Red Zinnia (Zinnia elegans), grown on our heirloom seed farm.
This photo is made of a stack of 95 macro images combined into one image of such detail and depth that it creates a whole world unto itself. This image offers the opportunity to take a journey into the fine detail of a common flower often found in many gardens.
Furthermore, this image contains “energetic tension” within itself, with three distinct areas. First, the pollen-covered petals convey a soft feeling. Then, one reaches the radiant yellow ring around the core, full of vibrancy and life. Lastly, the eyes reach an unexpected centre, with a concentric, spiral-like formation that evokes depth and mystery. One can’t help but wonder what lies behind the spiral, at the very core of the flower.
The more one looks, the more one sees.

The familiarity of public space. Two shoppers buying organically grown lettuce at the Lovin' Mama Farm vegetable stand.
Yesterday I drove to Unity, Maine to attend the Common Ground Country Fair. One of the fun things is to watch Border Collies at work. I took lots of stills but a video really is necessary to capture their energy and training. Several different whistles are used to let the dogs know what they should do.
The Common Ground Country Fair is a fair in Unity, Maine sponsored by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA). In 1996, MOFGA purchased 200 acres in Unity, Maine, where the fair now takes places yearly. The fair "celebrates organic living, farming and growing," and all the food sold at the event must be organic. The fair regularly hosts 50,000 to 60,000 people. The fair is also host to a large number of political groups and activists. In 2009, there were 64 political or social activism groups in attendance.
The Border Collie is a working and herding dog breed developed in the Anglo-Scottish border region for herding livestock, especially sheep. It was specifically bred for intelligence and obedience.
Considered highly intelligent, extremely energetic, acrobatic and athletic, they frequently compete with great success in sheepdog trials and dog sports. They are often cited as the most intelligent of all domestic dogs. Border Collies continue to be employed in their traditional work of herding livestock throughout the world. [Wikipedia]
June 18, 2022 - Lavender Festival at 123 Farm Organics in Cherry Valley, CA in a Lensball. Day Outing with my Mom and Aunt Evangeline.
The gulls and crows were sitting in the field waiting even before the tractor arrived. How did they know the farmer's intention? Very uncanny!

A beautiful organic farm. The building by the roadside has fresh produce for sale on an honor basis, no salespeople just a cashbox.

Met these beauties on a visit to an organic garden.
Friend lent me camera as I am considering investing in an SLR. This is one of the first shots I've taken with it.
From my recent visit to Revolve Farms ... One subject I was looking forward to photographing was the garlic crop that had been harvested and hung to cure in the barn ...
