Looking across the Willamette river from the west side I saw the Oregon Convention Center spires framed by a bridge and some very cool, big, fluffy clouds. I really liked the whole scene but the color version just didn't work, there was nothing exciting about it. Switched to black & white and the photo came alive! I almost decided this photo wasn't worth working on. Glad I didn't!

This is the beautiful Mount St Helens, an active volcano located in Skamania County, Washington, in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States (50 miles or 80 km from northeast of Portland, Oregon).
For me it was one of the things I loved the most when I came to Portland. Going around the city seeing these mountains all the time.
Today I enjoyed of night photography time at Portland, my beautiful city.
This is a great view by Willamette River where you can see the Moda Center and the Oregon Convention Center.

Yes, yesterday it was another typical rainy day in Portland. But I decided to go outside and take some photos anyways :-D. I tested my new waterproof bag, coat and camera protection, and everything worked great. So Portland let it rain, I'm prepared now! ;-)

The full moon rises over Mount Tabor Park, framed by the glass towers of the Oregon Convention Center, Portland, Oregon. This full moon appearing on the 31 July 2015 is called a Blue Moon, which refers to the second of two full moons appearing in the same calendar month. The last time this happened was in 2012, and another one isn't due until 2018.
See them while they are blooming right now.
Cherry trees in bloom next to the Steel Bridge over the Willamette River in Portland's Tom McCall Waterfront Park. The morning on Friday March 26, 2021 started out sunny. The glass towers in the background across the river to the east belong to the Oregon Convention Center.
Eagle eye rail fans will notice the southbound Union Pacific freight train crossing on the lower rail deck of the Steel Bridge. The white cars contain wrapped lumber with empty lumber carriers behind them

Updated edit of an older image. An extreme vertical format seemed the only appropriate way to capture this.
The year with the exceptionally warm weather in the West, the cherry blossoms along the Portland waterfront are probably early.
Frequently, the middle of March marks the peak of Portland, Oregon's cherry blossoms.
The greenish towers on the other side of the Willamette River belong to the Oregon Convention Center.

Doing my part as a Portlander and visiting the Sakura Cherry Blossoms. After missing a couple peak days and a day of high winds and heavy rain overnight, I was happy to find so many blossoms still out.
I took some film as well, but I will have to see what turns out from those later.

Curve adjustment to increase the overall contrast. 1 layer mask in soft light mode at 50% gray, using brush tool to lighten and darken some areas of the image, to bring out details. Used Nik Sharpener Pro to sharpen image.

With so many freeways throughout the downtown area. Portland is a great town for light trail shots. This shot was taken off the Burnside Bridge looking towards West Portland. The highway below is the I-5. It runs along the entire westcoast of the United States. From Blaine, Washington to San Diego, California.

This picture was shot on a tripod with nine exposures (-4..-3..-2..-1..0..+1..+2..+3..+4 EV). I then took another long exposure shot for the light trails of the traffic and digitally blended it into the 9-shot HDR processed image. I used Photomatix to create the HDR with tonemapping and detail enhanced. I increased the overall saturation with Hue/Saturation in Photoshop. Curve adjustment to increase the overall contrast. 1 layer mask in soft light mode at 50% gray, using brush tool to lighten and darken some areas of the image, to bring out details. Used Nik Sharpener Pro to sharpen image.

This was my biggest con yet, with my largest, most complex MOC to-date. I was also more busy as #LEGOspace theme coordinator than ever before, what an incredible turnout of mind-blowing MOCs!!! I am so thankful to everyone who helped make it possible. 48 years ago today, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr gave his iconic "I have a dream" speech. He envisioned equality for all, and a color blind society. 48 years later, his dream has come true. To celebrate this anniversary, King will be the first non President to have a memorial in the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Unfortunately, Hurricane Irene has postponed the official unveiling ceremony that was scheduled for today.
This is a statue dedicated to Dr. King in front of the Oregon Convention Center.

The Oregon State Office Building (left) and twin glass spire towers of the Oregon Convention Center dominate the urban skyline in the Lloyd District neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. The State Office Building was designed by the architecture firm of GBD Architects and the Convention Center was designed by Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Architects (ZGF). Mount Tabor, an extinct volcano within the city limits, is visible in the background. AJH_150731_6609
