99 red balloons

Nena

You and I in a little toy shop

Buy a bag of balloons with the money we've got

Set them free at the break of dawn

'Til one by one they were gone

Back at base bugs in the software

Flash the message "something's out there!"

Floating in the summer sky

Ninety-nine red balloons go by

Ninety-nine red balloons

Floating in the summer sky

Panic bells, it's red alert

There's something here from somewhere else

The war machine springs to life

Opens up one eager eye

Focusing it on the sky

Where ninety-nine red balloons go by

Ninety-nine decision street

Ninety-nine ministers meet

To worry, worry, super scurry

Call the troops out in a hurry

This is what we've waited for

This is it, boys, this is war

The president is on the line

As ninety-nine red balloons go by

Ninety-nine knights of the air

Ride super high-tech jet fighters

Everyone's a super hero

Everyone's a captain Kirk

With orders to identify

To clarify and classify

Scramble in the summer sky

Ninety-nine red balloons go by

As ninety-nine red balloons go by

Ninety-nine dreams I have had

In every one a red balloon

It's all over and I'm standing pretty

In this dust that was a city

If I could find a souvenir

Just to prove the world was here

And here is a red balloon

I think of you, and let it go

I had an epic road trip for work today. I only managed to stop a couple of times on the way home - this was taken near Oatlands, central Tasmania. The clouds were really doing some amazing things and needed to be photographed. I've photographed this tree before - it owns the hillside and keeps an eye out on the surrounding farmland.

The demise of Ye Olde English pub. The Victoria, Charlton. Now closed.

A throwback to 2015 and a group of snappers scramble for position at Barnetby station just 3 months before the signals were decommissioned, in an attempt to bag a few final shots from this one-time semaphore mecca.

The secondary subject on this occasion is DB Cargo Shed 66132, seen here working an iron ore empties from Scunthorpe back to Immingham Dock to collect yet another load for the hungry steelworks' blast furnaces.

Plenty of heat-haze coming off the loco which, despite the box wagons being empty, still looks like it's putting in a shift.

Coming to Necrosis this round (January 29-February 12) is Be My Mannequin? Pose Store with TWO exclusive poses based on the theme: Tainted Love! Here is the second of the poses: '...I'll Kill You...' which helped me create my picture: Just Desserts.

With your purchase, you get a chef's knife (clean and bloodied versions) which attaches to your hand directly from your inventory! They both make a great prop for future photographs as well!

(Note: The chef's knife is not shown in picture as to show the versatility of the pose but you can see it at Necrosis or in the sister picture: One Last Chance.)

...I'll Kill You... is certainly a creative couples pose, and I've not seen another like it! I love the ground lay because its so unique and the standing pose is exceedingly versatile and looks great from any angle!

Come over to the Necrosis event when it opens on January 29th and DEMO it personally! See you there!

It was said that a rogue demon had been ravaging the temple on the far end of the woods outside of the capital; taking lives of the monks and priests who lived there. The monks and priests just couldn't figure out who it was so they sent for help. That help was me.

I arrived the night I got my orders and took in the appearance of the temple. It was old and who knew what kind of entities lived here? But I am good at what I do and it didn't take me very long to find the tainted one among them. There were whispers of orange, glowing demonic eyes coming from the shadows. All night I hunted it down and finally, as the dawn began to break, I found my target.

The sound of an angry scream could be heard echoing the halls of the temple as one of the priests fell to the floor to his knees, blood pooling from the wound to his stomach where I'd managed to strike. This priest was no priest at all and it became evident as it began to lose its human form. Its demonic, tipped ears and piercings revealed itself as the orange glow of its eyes began to fade. It fell forward, squishing in its own blood upon the floor as it finally lay dead and unmoving.

I stared, cross in my left hand and bloodied knife in my right. I wanted to make sure it wasn't going reanimate itself somehow. Once I was sure of its death, I took a clean handkerchief and began to clean the blood from my blade, watching as blood began to gather and pool below the body. That creature got its just desserts.

Place: My favorite spot.

I keep wondering about the sky’s significant changes from one shape to another in a matter of seconds as the sun goes down.

I can’t even predict how the sky shape would turn at any given sunset/sunrise moment.

It’s always different and each time it changes according to a unique and sophisticated set of orders in a one-off algorithm; I believe.

It must, surely, has its proper scientific explanation. For me, it’s a mysteriously joyful experience and a source of great happiness.

The clouds here -a minute before this shot- were almost one piece when a sudden gentle wind started to blow turning the water calm surface into ripples and that one cloud began to move apart forming this magnificent sky.

The breeze carried by that gentle wind together with the amazing view, made for an awesomely wonderful moment. The lonely bird flew away immediately after the sun was completely vanished.

Nobody really knows what the end of year festivities will look like this year, but hopefully they will still include trees.

Attention, troopers! This is Admiral Tarkin with new orders. The chancellor has voiced his concern over the new threats arising in the Dathomir system. A malicious group known as Night Sisters has repeatedly interfered with our military expeditions. Reports show that this group and its members utilize unordinary weaponry and something that, in lack of a better expression, could be described as a sorcery. While you are familiar with the dubious ways of the Jedi already, their abilities might be even more absurd. In consensus with the chancellor, my research team and I have decided that a live subject is needed for further research into this matter. Your mission is to acquire a suitable subject in an assault on one of the Night Sister's lairs on Dathomir. The Jedi are not to be informed of this assignment and will have no part in this operation. I will personally lead the attack. Our assault will be swift and precise. Failure is unacceptable.

Hey there! Welcome to the Dathomir Collaboration! I'm so excited to kick things off today with part one. My part depicts the mission briefing in the hangar of a Venator Class Star Destroyer. A lot of inspiration for the hangar was taken from h2brick's MOC, and obviously, Venator hangars themselves. Speaking of inspiration, the AT-RT is pretty much just a combination of multiple different custom AT-RTs I've seen. Mainly, MClegoboy !. His AT-RT. I would credit the others, but I can't remember their names, and can't find the posts anymore. This thing is certainly rough around the edges. But I had fun trying some new techniques, and in the end, I'm happy with it.

Get excited! Part 2 comes out Thursday, September 3rd!

The Brandenburg Gate (German: Brandenburger Tor is an 18th-century neoclassical monument in Berlin, built on the orders of Prussian king Frederick William II after restoring the Orangist power by suppressing the Dutch popular unrest. One of the best-known landmarks of Germany, it was built on the site of a former city gate that marked the start of the road from Berlin to the town of Brandenburg an der Havel, which used to be the capital of the Margraviate of Brandenburg.

It is located in the western part of the city centre of Berlin within Mitte, at the junction of Unter den Linden and Ebertstraße, immediately west of the Pariser Platz. One block to the north stands the Reichstag building, which houses the German parliament (Bundestag). The gate is the monumental entry to Unter den Linden, a boulevard of linden trees which led directly to the royal City Palace of the Prussian monarchs.

Throughout its existence, the Brandenburg Gate was often a site for major historical events and is today considered not only as a symbol of the tumultuous histories of Germany and Europe, but also of European unity and peace.

The Damme Canal (French: Canal de Damme. Dutch: Damse Vaart or Napoleonvaart) is a canal in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The canal links Bruges with the Western Scheldt at Sluis (now across the frontier in The Netherlands). It was constructed on the orders of Napoleon Bonaparte who wished to create a canal network in order to permit the efficient transport of troops without the risk of disruptive interventions from the British navy.

Following the defeat of Napoleon, the original strategic imperative for the canal was removed. The plans in the Napoleonic era had called for a link to the Scheldt at Breskens. Half a century later the canal opened to traffic in 1856, and the link with the sea had moved to Sluis.

At Damme the canal crosses the Leopold Canal and the Schipdonk Canal, both of which were dug in the middle years of the nineteenth century in order to reduce the vulnerability of the Belgian canal network to Dutch interference, after the achievement in 1830 of Belgian independence. It was necessary to create a system of Siphons because of the differences in water level of the three canals. The canal was used until 1940 when French troops destroyed the siphon system: this put an end to maritime transport on the Damme Canal.

After war use of the canal resumed, but it was used now by pleasure boats, along with a tourist boat connecting Damme and Bruges.

Chapter VII: The Preparations

Nagato consulted his tablet for the latest instructions. The orders were clear: the next target was Fermilab, near Chicago. However, a persistent doubt gnawed at him. He had been infiltrated for several years in the 11th and 12th centuries, an arduous and lonely task that had cost him much of his personal life. Although the purer air and freedom to move without restrictions on Earth's surface offered some respite, he constantly longed for his real family and a special person he hoped to share his life with. The message he had just received reminded him of the danger of his mission; he had almost lost his life in the last incursion. This near-death experience increased his doubts about whether he was on the right side and the true purpose of his missions.

As he prepared in his hideout, Nagato reviewed the plan meticulously. He needed to infiltrate Fermilab, locate the core of the particle accelerator, and destabilize it without being detected. While preparing his equipment, his thoughts grew darker, remembering moments with his family and the person he left behind. Determined not to fail, he checked his tools one last time. With a mix of determination and doubt, he set off for Fermilab, questions about his loyalty and mission purpose weighing heavily on his mind. Despite the uncertainties, he was ready to face the challenges ahead, protect those he loved, and discover the truth.

The Rotunda of Galerius is 125m northeast of the Arch of Galerius in Thessaloniki, Hellas. It is also known (by its consecration and use) as the Greek Orthodox Church of Agios Georgios, and is informally called the Church of the Rotunda (or simply The Rotunda). The cylindrical structure was built in 306 AD on the orders of the tetrarch Galerius, who was thought to have intended it to be his mausoleum. It was more likely intended as a temple; it is not known to what god it would have been dedicated. The Rotunda is the oldest of Thessaloniki's churches.

CN L542 pauses on the Fergus Spur just outside FloChem while the conductor and trainee meet with the yard foreman to discuss spotting the inbound cars. Their 15 minute break allowed plenty of time for a farmer to finish plowing his driveway which crosses both the Fergus Spur main track and the FloChem siding. Shortly, 4732 will cut off from it's train and run ahead to the switch for the crew to sweep it out and start their work.

Changing of the guards in Copenhagen.

Another day is soon to close for the California Northern. It's been a long day for these guys, with one crew spending the morning unloading the last cut of loads, and the outbound crew showing up early in the afternoon. After spending a couple hours getting the train ready for departure, it was time to go.

The train was originating in Artois, bound for the UP interchange at Davis. The crew this day had a much shorter trip than usual, as it being a gypsum meant there were no cars to set out or pick up. The crew did run into a few problems along the way, leaving Artois they had to run long hood forward at restricted speeds, the original lead motor had no radios, therefore having to pick up a new lead unit, several cars running the gates in front of them, which they got very close to hitting at least one, and a slow order at Yolo. By the time the train reached Davis blue hour would have just passed.

At Yolo, the train approaches the single span truss over Cache Creek. Going only 10 mph, I decided to shoot the train as it approached the bridge, getting the headlights to emphasize the slight grade approaching the creek. The sun was soon to drop below the horizon, and the sky can be seen slowly turning into a vibrant purple. This would be my last shot of the train before heading home.
