(Henri Desplanques)
The Tuscan countryside was built as a work of art by a refined people, the same one who ordered paintings and frescoes in the 15th century: this is the characteristic. It's amazing how these people built their rural landscapes as if they had no other concern than beauty. (Henri Desplanques)

When I first ordered tulip bulbs from RoozenGaarde's tulips (tulips.com), the wild rabbits seemed happy to eat them as bulbs or blooms.
We then bought large half-barrels to place on the deck that also functions as a bird blind. This afternoon's clouds made these tulips look bright and vivid. I've only made slight adjustments in ACR.
In January 2022 I asked for help, and a Flickr support hero removed my accounts from the Explore algorithm. I feel more relaxed and sincere.
These 'weeds' grow along the tracks along part of the walk I do each day at lunch. I find them endlessly fascinating so I have lots of pictures. Every once in a while, one turns out.
This is using my old manual Pentax 50mm. Bit more work being manual focus, but sure can turn out some nice shots.

The Cesme Castle was ordered built in 1508 by the Ottoman Sultan Beyazit II. The castle was built on the waterfront but because the sea has subsequently been filled there is currently a road passing in front of it. The edifice has recently undergone a successful renovation and you will witness a typical Ottoman castle. By climbing up the stairs on either side you will reach the top where you can view a 360 degree panoramic view of Cesme. (1)
Çeşme [ˈtʃeʃme] is a coastal town and the administrative centre of the district of the same name in Turkey's westernmost end, on a promontory on the tip of the peninsula which also carries the same name and which extends inland to form a whole with the wider Karaburun Peninsula. It is a popular holiday resort and the district center, where two thirds of the district population is concentrated. Çeşme is located 85 km west of İzmir, the largest metropolitan center in Turkey's Aegean Region. The name "Çeşme" means "fountain" and possibly draws reference from the many Ottoman fountains that are scattered across the city. (2)

We had an absolutely incredible sunset yesterday. All through the day we had some incredible cloud formations and I was hoping they would stick around for sunset. They obviously did.
Also, I ordered a new Nikon D7000. It will arrive today, so this may be the last shot I ever take with my old D80. It's been a great camera, but it's time for an upgrade...and I've already got a buyer for it. I can't wait to get my D7000 in my hands and begin putting it through it's paces.
UPDATE: I now have my new D7000 in my hands. The battery isn't even charged yet, but I can already tell how awesome it is. :-)

Dad got wary of the dueling siblings when he arrived with the food order so decided to bring a double order. It didn't work out because despite several attempts he could not manage to keep the second hopper in his mouth and deliver the first hopper. the youngsters were not adept enough at grabbing the insect from the host's mouth, dad had to literally jam it into the throat of the little ones before they could eat it. So end of the tale, he dropped the first hopper and turned to watch it fall below before returning and delivering the second hopper - leaving the other one wailing. The moral of the story, something about two birds in the bush which they invented in the first place.

Due to a construction-related total closure of the Main-Weser-Bahn for the extension of the S-Bahn line S6 in the first two weeks of the Hessian Easter holidays 2023, additional trains were ordered by the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund as RE 16 between Friedberg (Hess) and Frankfurt (Main) to cover the traffic flows on Mondays to Fridays. These trains, consisting of class 245 locomotives with double-decker coaches, did not take the route via Hanau, but via the single-track line Friedberg (Hess) - Rosbach v d Höhe - Friedrichsdorf (Ts) and then via the "Homburger Bahn" to Frankfurt (Main) Hbf. Here we see 245 018 with RE 99041 Friedberg (Hess) - Frankfurt (Main) Hbf in Bad Homburg station, which it passes through without stopping. The impressive building of the Kaiserbahnhof (Homburg vor der Höhe was a popular summer residence of Kaiser Wilhelm II) was put into service on 26 October 1907 and forms a commendable backdrop for this train, which is not a common sight there.

The dream of every citizen of the former German Democratic Republic: a Trabant car from Sachsenring. Front-wheel drive, two-stroke engine, thermoset body and often ordered in sky blue with pleasure. In 1976 the Trabant provided 47% of all cars used in the GDR. The dream usually lasted a very long time – there was often over 10 years of waiting. Then there was great joy for the mobility that was finally gained. However, this model was sometimes delivered without a steering wheel. You had to get that to really get going :-)
The Trabant is nicknamed "racing cardboard" because of the body made of pressed paper (soaked in phenol resin), which is reinforced with short cotton fibers.

#MacroMondays 2021 / May 17 / #Soap / Dreamy HMM to everyone!
Ordered a new paper photo book, with all photos made by me for Macro Mondays, downloaded from my digital flickr album (Macro mondays). It has become very colorful with pleasant memories of the many hours of entertainment. The theme "book" came just in time.
EL ordered SDP45's from what I'd heard to get units with more fuel capacity. For whatever reason they were ordered they looked sharp as hell in EL paint. Here 3641 leads another SDP and train NY-100 at East Stroudsburg in September 1`975. No photographer to credit, Chuck Schwesinger collection.
I ordered not one, but 2 Nikon cable releases, so there'll always be a backup.
I just can't with digital colors. But digital BW fascinates me in a way the film version never did. Probably because in the film era, I couldn't decide what a good BW photo should look like.
The aircraft was ordered by Virgin Blue. It was delivered in September 2010. Powered by General Electric engines. Operated on the Sydney - Los Angeles route since November 2010. Currently with Virgin Australia.
The Boeing 777, commonly referred to as the Triple Seven, is an American wide-body airliner developed and manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. It is the world's largest twinjet. Developed in consultation with eight major airlines, with a first meeting in January 1990, the program was launched on October 14, 1990, with an order from United Airlines. The prototype was rolled out on April 9, 1994, and first flew on June 12, 1994. The 777 entered service with the launch customer, United Airlines, on June 7, 1995. Longer range variants were launched on February 29, 2000, and were first delivered on April 29, 2004. 14849

This black and white photograph, taken in Manosque, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence in the South of France, is of an area where customers pick up per-ordered goods from a supermarket.
It was taken at night and is a reworking of an earlier color image (flic.kr/p/2neYb8e).
It was created by converting the RAW file of a long exposure photograph (4 seconds, f/25, ISO 100) directly into a black and white image.
Ordered this honey a few days ago and it came today. I thought I would showcase the honey with the heavy bearding from the MobLand Hive in the background.
I ordered a Triple Venti, Half Sweet, Non-Fat, Caramel Macchiato on Coconut Milk with an Extra Shot and 2% Foam at no more than 90 degrees..... and this is a Flat White.

The last biplane fighter to enter service with the RAF in the late 1930s, the Gloster Gladiator was already obsolescent and ordered as a stop gap in case of delays to the much more capable Spitfires and Hurricanes then in development.
The Gladiator had a very sprightly performance for a biplane, and despite being so outdated, many hundreds were built and saw much service during WW2 with a wide variety of Air Forces. They generally acquitted themselves surprisingly well - notably in the defence of Malta, where they attained a legendary status. A myth formed that three Gladiators, respectively named Faith, Hope and Charity, provided the Island's entire air cover during the Siege of Malta in 1940. It's not entirely true, but a good story is better than the reality!

After the siege of Amiens in 1597, king Henry IV of France ordered to design new fortifications for the city. He entrusted this new task to Jean Errard (1554-1610). Henry IV had 200 houses and a church demolished and parts of the older ramparts of Philip II of France (1165–1223) dismantled to make way for Errard's fortress.
Construction of the citadel went from 1598 to 1622.
The gate you can see there was constructed from 1615 to 1620. It's called royal door and was until 1859 the south entrance to the citadel.
After the Treaty of the Pyrenees in 1659 the Franco-Spanish War ended and the citadel was no longer of use. In 1788 the destruction of the citadel was authorised.
But the citadel was still used in the Battle of Amiens (1870).
From 1871 to 1914 and from 1918 to 1939, and after WWII until 1979 the citadel became a French garrison again.
The citadel was the last place of resistance in WWII when the Germans entered Amiens on May 20, 1940. During the occupation, the citadel was a place of detention, torture and execution of resistance fighters arrested by the Germans. 35 resistance fighters were shot in the ditches of the citadel between November 12, 1940 and August 1944. Jews from the Somme department were also detained at the citadel before being transferred to Drancy.
Bought from the army in 1999 by the city of Amiens, the long walls of the Citadel have been restored since the year 2000.
