This is probably the last in a series of photos of Minnesota Orchestra Hall. Sorry for the poor-quality phone shots.

Also in this image by pure coincidence, standing third from right, is the renown trumpeter, Charles Lazarus, soloist, composer and bandleader with the Minnesota Orchestra since 2000.

“Lazarus made his Carnegie Hall solo debut with the New York String Orchestra at the age of 19 while still a student at The Juilliard School in New York. Since then, he has soloed with dozens of orchestras and ensembles throughout North America and has performed and taught master classes in every U.S. state, Canada, South America and throughout Europe and Asia. He's been a member of several of the best-known brass ensembles in the world including Canadian Brass, Dallas Brass and Meridian Arts Ensemble, and has performed with Empire Brass, London Brass and the New York Philharmonic Principal Brass. He has also performed his original compositions at the Montreal and Ottawa international jazz festivals, opened for Tony Bennett, and performed with Barry White and Joe Williams.”

Rimani in silenzio , ascolta le note

Fifty years ago, Carla Emerson's father composed a twelve-minute

orchestral piece that included a harp part for her. It was never

performed, at least not until tonight. Tonight she played her part

with the rest of the orchestra and received a standing ovation both

from the orchestra and the crowd. She's 93 years old and well loved

as a teacher throughout the community.

She's still teaching, and active in a dozen other ways too. I've

known her for decades. She's the mother of two of my friends and --

for instance -- she goes to their parties. I had a lively

conversation with her a few weeks ago at one.

The signs as I went into the hall said I was forbidden to take

pictures. But I thought: if I don't, who will?

Philadelphia Orchestra Intermission

"pale black eye" by manchester orchestra

Just for amusement, in 2006 a virtual orchestra was set up outside the Southbank Centre in London. The way it worked was that a piece of classical music was playing on a loop and when you sat on the relevent box you heard the part which the musician in that position was playing above the sound of the orchestra as a whole.

Dearborn Symphony Orchestra - Main Stage Headliner, Dearborn Homecoming Festival 2015

The Dearborn Symphony Orchestra NAILED IT as the headliner before the Fireworks Finale at the Homecoming this summer!

The crowd was as diverse as you could imagine, with multi-generations and ethic groups galore. But the DSO proved that no matter who you are, classical music has something to offer you!

I wandered around to get different camera angles, so got to observe various people's reactions.

Many people seemed both curious and enthusiastic, but not knowing quite what to make of it all with so many instruments and a widely varying set list to mix up their emotions! That's some powerful story telling, all done without lyrics getting in the way of the PURE MUSIC ENERGY POURING FROM THE STAGE.

Here's a comment I overheard after they finished playing the theme from "The Lone Ranger" - "Wow, I didn't know I liked classical music..." and then I asked him if he's seen the Dearborn Symphony Orchestra at their auditorium at Michigan & Greenfield. He said no, and I told him he's missing out on an even more amazing sonic experience there!

The vicious percussion thief known only as Mr Maracas is caught here in the act of robbing the East Penge Reservists Orchestra of their historically significant Timpanis. Any information leading to the apprehension of Mr Maracas will be rewarded with a substantial supply of partially used maple bodied felt-headed Beaters.

Eurythmics > There Must Be An Angel

No-one on earth could feel like this.

I'm thrown and overblown with bliss.

There must be an angel

Playing with my heart.

I walk into an empty room

And suddenly my heart goes "boom"!

It's an orchestra of angels

And they're playing with my heart.

(must be talking to an angel)

No-one on earth could feel like this.

I'm thrown and overblown with bliss.

There must be an angel

Playing with my heart.

And when i think that i'm alone

It seems there's more of us at home.

It's a multitude of angels

And they're playing with my heart.

Chorus repeats.

I must be hallucinating

Watching angels celebrating.

Could this be reactivating

All my senses dislocating?

This must be a strange deception

By celestial intervention.

Leavin' me the recollection

Of your heavenly connection.

SHIBUSASHIRAZU ORCHESTRA

PL:

Ogromna orkiestra, elementy teatru butoh, efekty pirotechniczne, wielkie konstrukcje sceniczne, tancerze i mimowie, wreszcie humor, radość z obcowania z muzyką i ładunek pozytywnej energii. To jest właśnie Shibusashirazu Orchestra. Kto raz widział ich w akcji, zapamięta ten koncert do końca życia.

EN:

A phenomenon that is difficult to compare to anyone because there is no other band like them in the world. These Japanese artists are a big band consisting of over 30 members, whose trademark are phenomenal concerts. Their performances offer unforgettable and unique combinations of great musical energy, based on extended brass section and stage shows drawing from the rich Japanese tradition and other world cultures. Their performances are phenomenal combinations of jazz, fiery rock’n’roll with colour, costumes, scenography, make-up and other elements. They are a huge orchestra incorporating butoh theatre elements, pyrotechnic effects, huge stage constructions, dancers and mimes. Also, they offer a great sense of humour, joy of experiencing music and a huge dose of positive energy. This is Shibusashirazu Orchestra in a nutshell. See them once in your life and you will never forget it.
