Day 74 of my 366 Project

St Ignatius church in Sunderland - performing a lightpainting workshop / demo for the Seaham Camera Club - all freehand the orb was made with one of my homemade orb tools and the walls painted with a Lenser P7QC torch

Yes I bought one! No I've not used it much and frankly may never, but there is one photo I want to try and it involves the sea so maybe in the summer I'll get round to playing with it again. one thing I liked here is my beautiful blue daisy bush in all its glory but not long after this its died! I have cuttings they still look hopeful! but not investigated them.... a bit frightened to do so!

Viervlekwielwebspin - Four spot Orb weaver (Araneus quadratus)

This orb / Amazing Circle was created from a photo of a section from a Tiffany lamp designed with peony flowers.

Too cold to go outside and do landscape, so last night I decided to go out to the back yard and found these orbs of orange light dancing down the pathway in Stuttgart. Wanted to see if it was Woody Allen's Orb, but the closer I got to it, the further it moved away. :-) Hope everyone is having a great start to the week.

The before and after of the life of a Golden Orb Weaver Spider.

I found this female Golden Orb Weaver and her egg sacs in a dead bush at our outback camp. Orb weavers usually mate in Autum. The female sometimes eats the male after mating.

This spider had three egg sacs approximately 3cm round. Each sac contains hundreds of eggs. The silk she uses for her egg sac is strong, yellow, and curly. Baby spiders are called spiderling. The baby spiders hatch within a couple of weeks, but remain inside their egg sac until winter is over. Once the tiny spiders emerge from their egg sac in early spring, they make small webs near their birthplace, or disperse on the wind, attached to short lengths of silk.

ANSH 123 - 14. before and after

At Trillium Lake. I know that this is out of focus and over exposed, but this is my first light painting orb, thanks to Chris aka Captain Blithering so I had to post it.

There's still time to hop in the car and meet out at Trillium Lake for a sunset tonight if you live in Portland. Let's go!!!

Another featherless Sunday today, my oh my, how time flies. Here is a picture I recently took in my yard. Ir is a Silver Orb Weaver spider and is quite common in Florida. They always appear in the summer.

one from a little while ago - all the hard work was done by Tom Hill all i did was watch Tom at work and press the shutters

Another flick from last nights lp session with Phill Fisher.. nice one Phill for spinning a nice tidy orb for this shot and providing the lighting !

Creating these orbs / Amazing Circles is so much fun and addictive. This one created from a crop of an iris blooming in my garden somewhat covered with pine pollen. Tis the season for that ! !

Extreme zoom in on a bright object in the sky...

Really no idea what it was.

Orb by SpY. Amsterdam Light Festival.

Light painting with Sabine.R as the "grand finale" of a photowalk at the Zitadelle Spandau / Spandau Citadel. As before, Sabine painted the orb while I was operating our cameras. This time I managed to capture the whole orb (the one before taken at a previous photowalk had been only half an orb, because I had made a mistake with the exposure on my camera; please see first comment). This orb still isn't perfectly captured, because I was a little too late with stopping the long exposure on my camera, but I actually like the colourful, rhythmic "afterglow" of Sabine's multicolour light painting flashlight, because it reminds me of a heartbeat as seen on a medical monitor. The vital signs look good, don't you agree?

Cyrtophora mollucensis perhaps - but I don't know a great deal about spiders, I'm sure someone will correct me. Found this one in my garden on a morning walk.

Lots of these fellas in the garden at the moment.

Won't be popular with many but I've never taken this close of a look to a spider. This orb weaver was at the garden center where we had our photography class Saturday and it was a popular photo amongst the group. We all got different shots of it. That is the beauty of a group shooting the same thing, each seeing something completely different.

Another orb from a couple of weeks ago at the lake but this is made with a light bulb, the local wildlife must wonder what the hell I'm doing ?? Also, I quite like the little plane photobomb in the sky

Having fun with my photos creating these Amazing Circle orbs. This one was created from a photo of a water lily.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Four easy steps to create orb - I use Adobe Photoshop.

1. Crop a section of photo into a square you think will make a good orb pattern.

> If using Photoshop Elements, crop photo with another software tool then open cropped square in Elements.

> From menu bar:

2. Filter>Distort>Polar Coordinates>Polar to Rectangular

3. Image>Rotate>Flip Vertical (180 degrees)

4. Filter>Distort>Polar Coordinates>Rectangular to Polar

Please submit your orbs to the Amazing Circles group.
