This is a photograph from the Tullamore Harriers AC "Quinlan Cup" Half Marathon was held on Saturday 30th August 2014 in Tullamore, Co. Offaly, Ireland at 12:00. This is the second year of the event. Last year, 2013, the event commemorated the 60th Anniversary of the formation of Tullamore Harriers AC which today is one of Ireland's best known athletics clubs. The race was perfectly organised. There were stewarts all along the route, 3 drink stations with bottled water, superb facilities, and great after-race refreshments. The stewards along the route provided great encouragement to all of the runners. Tullamore Harriers and the local community really worked together to make this is a wonderful event. There was also a relay option where teams of two can run approximately 10.5km each. In total 568 participants completed the race which is almost 150 more than the 2013 event.

This photograph is one of a set of photographs from the Tullamore Harriers Half Marathon 2014. The permanent link to the full set of photographs is [https://www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157646587496250/]. This set of photographs includes photographs of the start and then photographs of the finish up to the 2 HOUR finishing time.

As mentioned above last year this race marathon race celebrated the 60th Anniversary (a Diamond Anniversary) of the foundation of Tullamore Harriers AC. The club was formed in the town in November 1953. However, it was almost 1979 before facilities close to what we see today open in the present day site. Over 50 provincial and national athletics meetings are held at Tullamore Harriers every year. The facilities available combined with it's central geographical location joining routes from North, South, East, and West make it a very attractive venue. The half marathon today firmly brings competitive national road racing back to "The Harriers". In the past there was the famous Quinnlan Cup

Festival of Races (see a link below for some nostalgia) which was one of Ireland's Blue Ribband events with some very famous names of the past lining out for that four mile race. Today, the facilities at Tullamore Harriers are the envy of many athletics clubs in Ireland. The facilities provided by Tullamore make it one of the premier venues for local and national level athletics in Ireland. There is an Olympic standard tartan track, a fully equipped gym, changing facilities, press and media facilities, meeting room spaces, etc. The club also provides a social center and niteclub which makes "The Harriers" a very well known on the local social scene. Esssentially, the town of Tullamore would be a different place if it weren't for the presence of Tullamore Harriers AC.

Overall Race Summary

Participants: There was 568 participants of runners, joggers, and walkers.

Weather: The midday start seen warm pleasant conditions for running. The layout of the course meant that there was a stiff breeze into the face of competitors for the first few miles up to mile 6. When the race turned around to return to Tullamore the wind was somewhat more favourable to runners.

Course: The race starts on the Charleville Road just outside the entrance to Tullamore Harriers. The race proceeds south along the R421 and onto the N52 before taking a route onto local back roads. The race then completes a large rural road route before it joins to the R421 again and the final 1.5 miles are the same as the first mile of the race. The runners enter tullamore stadium and complete one lap of the tartan track before the finish line. The course is challenging in places with some undulations along the route. But overall it is fair course.

Location Map: Start/finish and registration and race HQ was all at Tullamore Harriers AC Club Grounds: goo.gl/maps/xZ4GM (Google Streetview)

Refreshments: There was a very impressive selection of refreshments including sandwiches, cakes, home-made breads, etc in the Harriers clubhouse afterwards. People were able to enjoy their post race refreshments outside in the warm pleasant sunshine.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:

►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera

►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set

►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone

►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.

Don't like your photograph here?

That's OK! We understand!

If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.

Partner you have been very quiet so far.... I am leaning toward the middle option but would like to hear what you think. The top option would have an embroidered snowflake in the center.

Dear Partner,

I have paper pieced the first of four blocks for your mini quilt. This picture is a horrible representation of what the colors actually look like. In person, these are deep, rich colors. :) Sorry I finished this block at 10 o'clock tonight, so good lighting wasn't really an option.

Is this something that you would like? Speak now or forever hold your peace! :)

I was shooting paper negatives with my whole plate seneca folding camera using 5x7 ilford multigrade paper. I decided to shoot a digital image for reference and ended up processing it in lightroom to get a similar look to the scanned and inverted negative.

(I'll try and upload higher res soon)

This is a very large space! We draped the ceiling with rows of ivory fabric and ivory colored paper lanterns

This is part of the Sunrise series. It was envisioned to be like the Braniff colored liveries.

Liveries that didn't made the actual plane. Hanggang drawing board lang. Submitted to Air Phil before.

Not another similiar plant for miles in the forest. Small's Scullcap. Mostly overlooked because of it's diminutive size, this was less than 3- inches tall. A herb.

found this at milwaukee.craigslist.com and the guy lived near west bend. he wanted $100 for the board, bindings, and size 9 boots. i offered him $75 and he took $80.

i'll either sell the boots or give them to someone who'll fit in them since they're too small for me. i'd also like to get some flow bindings for this board and maybe put these bindings on a Vision 144 that i have.

This is a photograph from the "Lock Up The Year" Royal Canal Trail Marathon which was held along on the banks of the Royal Canal from Moyvalley, Co. Kildare to Leixlip, Co. Kildare on Wednesday 31st December 2014 at 09:00. The race started at Furey's Pub at Moyvalley and proceeded westwards to Blackshade bridge where the race turned around and then the route was direct back to Leixlip. The running route followed the Royal Canal Way from start to finish. There was also the option of a 1/2 marathon (from Cloncurry Bridge near Enfield) and a 10KM distance from The Maws at Kilcock. This event is made possible through the cooperation of East Of Ireland Marathons and Jarlath B. Hynes and Brendan Murphy from Leixlip, Co. Kildare (see a Facebook group page here www.facebook.com/groups/524790427539290/?fref=ts). The key aspect of this run is that they are three races are informal and self supported runs along on the Royal Canal Way trail. There is no chip timing, water stops, marshals, massages, t-shirts or prizes. But it is an enjoyable run along the Royal Canal and a chance to meet up with fellow runners during the race and then after it at the Le Cheile clubhouse in Leixlip. There are some nice numbers for the race today. 26.2 miles, 2 counties, 5 traversals in and out of Meath and Kildare, crossing 6 roads, and passing under 5 bridges before the finish outside the Leixlip amenities center. The marathon today is supported by the East of Ireland Marathon Series. Thanks is also extended to the Le Cheile AC who made some of their facilities available today after the race(s).

Heavy rain before Christmas and some grazing cattle the canal towpath (particularly between Cloncurry and Kilcock) was very wet and muddy and proved difficult and testing terrain for all of the runners. However despite a strong breeze at a few sections the weather was bright and dry and made for good running conditions. The frosty weather of the last two days made other grassy underfoot conditions firm.

This photograph is part of a larger set of photographs taken of the event(s) today. They are all available for viewing in this Flickr set. www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157647714256973/

The Royal Canal is a very special piece of Irish Heritage. It's waterway channel and it's banks have seen much history with both the rise and subsequent decline in railway and canal travel and transportation. Our run on the Royal Canal is made possible by the incredible hard and dilligent work by the Inland Waterways of Ireland and countless volunteer individuals who turned their vision of a restored Royal Canal into reality.

I folded the spine of this book without scoring it and the printing came off giving it a distressed look. It bothered me but I realized I had "Options" and took sand paper to the entire book and distressed the entire thing giving it a more cohesive look.
