Can you imagine the Autobot leader and Decepticon leader working together? This is a rare sight from an episode of the first season of the original Transformers.
The two leaders are in the laboratory-cave of a mad human scientist where a timer's set to detonate the earth. Megatron diffuses the timer but the energy orb is still unstable and about to explode.
To save the earth (as he's still on it), Megatron tells Prime there's no time to waste, and transforms. Prime takes the gun, slots the unstable energy orb in, and fires into the atmosphere, conveniently hitting the mutinous Starscream in the sky.

I will post some previews in the next couple of days, so keep a look out!
From December, 2008; four years before I joined Flickr.
This one is for Jason Hendricks, with thanks.
just got this figure today, I was never all that big into transformers, but war for cybertron changed that so I picked this guy up today and applied some weathering like I do with all armored badasses
As soon as I saw these seaside binoculars on the promenade at Southwold yesterday, I was reminded of Transformers, and the words of Optimus Prime.
"With the AllSpark gone, we cannot return life to our planet. And fate has yielded its reward: a new world to call home. We live among its people now, hiding in plain sight, but watching over them in secret...waiting...protecting. I have witnessed their capacity for courage. And though we are worlds apart, like us, there's more to them than meets the eye.
I am Optimus Prime, and I send this message to any surviving Autobots taking refuge among the stars. We are here. We are waiting."
— Optimus Prime, closing narration
Only fitting to end Mech Monday with Optimus Prime: "Do not forget what you have learned of our past. From its lessons the future is forged."
And boy, have I learned a lot with these 52 mechs, drones, robots, machines and whatnot!
Thank you for accompanying me on this ride, thank you for the consistent support, the encouragements, the nice comments!
This is not the end, although I'll be done with Mech Monday for a while. Stay tuned for a new adventure!
Mech Monday is an ongoing project started by Marin and I with the aim to build and post 52 mechs each in 2019 – one every Monday. Find everyone's builds so far in the Mech Monday flickr group.
Been meaning to create a composite learning test with old toys. Too bad all the weapons of Optimus were lost years ago. I may need to buy some new toys... :D

Only the third spotting of this astonishingly patterned species in almost a decade. Unfortunately, this individual is playing Russian roulette, with multiple Tachinid parasitoid fly eggs on the tips of its rear tubercles.

We're Here are visiting Famous People.
Strictly speaking Optimus Prime is not a person. He is an Autobot. But he is famous.
My kids have always helped me doing Flickr shots; it particularly saves me wrestling with tripods and remotes while wearing props. The Optimus helmet (which has appeared before in my photos) is modelled today by my #1 who is back living at home for a while. The other Optimus also came to live with us after lockdown and stands proudly in my hall. We are not nerds.
Finally got around to building Bumblebee's alt. mode, two years after building his original figure. He was the last of my Transformers that needed an alt. mode built.
I tried to model his original toy's "Penny Racer" proportions, which his original cartoon model also seemed to use, instead of more realistic VW Beetle proportions, and I think it came out pretty well.
He's pictured here with his pals Optimus and Jazz (obviously), and I think they scale nicely together for LEGO City.
