During a bit of clear out I found the Microsoft Vista discs and packaging. The items were sorted into the appropriate Household and Recycling waste wheelie bins. Vista was not Microsoft's finest hour.

Tried out Windows 7 x32 and x64 in VMware 6.5. Host OS is XP64. Used the default installs in vmware for both x32 and x64 versions. Windows 7 looks a lot like vista. Can't see many differences. For a beta OS it is pretty stable.

Found how to access the normally inaccessable system folders on my HTC One X running Android and came across these amongst others :-)
Who would have thought you could install MS-DOS ( and then Windows 3.1) on an Android platform. FreeBox (DOS-Box) is an app, and when installed, Windows can then be installed from old floppy disks (remember them) & transferred over to Android. Considering the vintage of MS-DOS and Windows 3.11, I doubt Microsoft would mind.
I've un-installed it however as a phone screen is a teensy bit small but should be fine on a larger tablet.
I know I might be a little bit schizophrenic, but I'm actually quite a fan of these two brands (Android, Apple).
Made with the lid of my MacBook Pro and a collectible Android figure I brought back from Japan.
NB: The fact that the focus is made on the Apple logo doesn't mean my preference lies there.
Even better, they can work fine together.
The desktop OSes that I use, or according to Steve Gibson, the "toy OS". I didn't include iOS or Android OS, because I can't really categorize them yet. Perhaps they will fall into a category as "toaster OS" as in toaster is an appliance.
From wikipedia: Microsoft Bob was a Microsoft software product, released in March 1995, which provided a new, nontechnical interface to desktop computing operations. Despite its ambitious nature, Bob failed to meet the market and was one of Microsoft's more visible product failures. Microsoft's Steve Ballmer named Bob as "one project we had undertaken ... where we decided that we have not succeeded and let's stop".[1]

Trying to get Windows partitions working on new and old MacBooks. With varying levels of frustration, caused by both OS's.
It took 7 minutes to download, install, and begin using Google Chromium on my EEEPC 4G Linux (running easypeasy).

As the title could suggests, the main theme here could be Operating Systems (OS), or better, since that the word 'Open' is there, Free Operating Systems as well. Since that I have to visit two colleges in different cities, different labs and computers hardware, I usually have a set of CDs with some OS just to assure that I will have a clean environment to work or just make a Hardware Compatibility Test (HCT) to certify devices. Sometimes I'm driven by esthetical reasons, like testing an OS just because it does have a nice look appeal, a well designed GUI, themes and wallpapers, like those at www.kde-look.org.
The meaning of 'Open Windows' here is other than that. Most buses that I have been in during the week doesn't allow a passenger to open a window, due to the air cooler system. In the average, only one in three are older ones. So, in one of these cosmic coincidences, I have a single minute to make this shot when the bus was slowing the speed to leave the RS-348 and turn into the direction of my destiny city.

As with most of my shots like these, this would not be considered part of my professional portfolio. Hence, no signature. It's more of a "blog-type" photo.
Yes, sometimes I like to photograph products. And, when it's something as highly anticipated as Microsoft's own Windows 7, I'm not gonna hold back. Sure, not everybody is going to whip their camera out as soon as their box arrives, but me, well... I'm a different story.
The direction of this shot was a take on Microsoft's own ad campaign. Anyone heard of Windows 7 Launch parties? Yes, I agree. It sounds strange to hold a house party for the launch of an operating system, but, apparently some people did. The viral videos contain groups of people in a kitchen, huddled around computers, food or island counters. Could I have done more with this shot? Of course. Personally, having actual people gathered around the table would have added to that party-esque feel, but, unfortunately, I was the only one in the house at the time... Ah, well.
