In the afternoon, in the darkest weeks of winter before Christmas, winter's face is pale. Only blue light before dark. The sun also sets almost colorless. But there is a lot of snow, you are free to ski on slopes that no one has skied before you. When dusk comes, you turn on the lights in the headlamp and just look ahead while skiing and respond warmly to the cold gaze of winter.

Kind of addictive takng these shots so apologies if I've flogged them to the max. - Nazar you can have your mirror back now!
Used a bit of jiggery pokery in the form of HDR to increase the dynamic range as it was pretty large, hopefully didn't cook on high for too long there.

Sturnus vulgaris, Starling fledgling being fed.
The garden has been swamped with young Starlings and it amazes me that the adults not only know their own chicks but seem to know which one needs feeding next.
Starlings are 'RED LIST' birds so it's nice to see so many of them
A family of fledglings flew over the road one by one and we could hear the constant high pitched call from a lilac bush. This little fluffball found the twig in our conifer where it preened itself while waiting for Mum.
The goldcrest is Britain's smallest bird, which is not much bigger than a rose leaf. We watched the little fledglings for over an hour until they dispersed over the house taking the squeaky cheapings with them.

The shutter and window thrown wide open, the sunlight and fresh air streaming in. A wonderful place to admire the view.The climbing plant covering the wall and consuming the other shuttered window.

Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (Papilio glaucus) on a Butterfly Bush. Strange how all of a sudden they make an appearance. They are so beautiful.
