This is from our recent hike to the small waterfalls area about 600 metres beyond the gorge of the main falls at Rockway Falls West of St Catharines, Ontario. The Fifteen Mile Creek, so named by the early European settlers on the basis of the (approximate) distance of its mouth on Lake Ontario in miles from the mouth of the Niagara River, flows down the Niagara Escarpment through a sharp bend here Rock falls have formed an area where the water pools. At this time of year the pool reflects the brilliant yellows of the fall foliage on the opposite shore. - JW

Tech Details:

Taken using a tripod-mounted Nikon D7100 fitted with a Nikkor 18-105mm VR lense set to 92mm, ISO100, Aperture priority mode, 1/60 sec with an EV-0.33 exposure bias. PP in free Open Source RAWTherapee: increase exposure slightly, boost contrast slightly, boost saturation slightly, boost black slightly, increase vibrance slightly, apply noise reduction, sharpen. PP in free Open Source GIMP: adjust tone curve to very slightly darken the bottom 1/3 of the curve and also very slightly brighten the top 1/3 of the curve, very slightly increase yellow channel saturation, apply slight colour correction to decrease blue cast (shift to yellow), sharpen, add fine black and white frame, add bar and text on left, scale to 1800 wide for posting.
