One of the iconic locations on the Bruce Trail in the Bruce National Park East of Tobermory, Ontario, is Indian head Cove, located on the Georgian Bay shore just about 1 km East of the Cyprus Lake campgrounds. The reference to 'Map 41' in the title is to the 2012 Bruce Trail map set. A trail rated as 'accessible' leads to just short of this location. The final 50 metres are over some rough rock with ledges and fissures, making the final destination definitely not 'accessible', in spite of anything you may hear elsewhere. Regardless, the cove is a very popular and easy-to-reach spot and this image shows about the fewest people I could manage to get in. The water here is crystal clear and gives a very deceptive impression of depth. That appears to be perhaps a couple of metres depth can easily be anywhere from 5 to 15 metres deep. On top of that, the water is extremely cold at the best of times and is generally quite rough. This is very calm. The water anywhere along the Peninsula claims victims regularly and is not to be underestimated, either for temperature or for its ability to change conditions in a very short time. None-the-less, an iconic spot such as this is iconic for good reason. - JW
