Glow is based on a generative model from OpenAI, a non-profit organization dedicated to artificial intelligence research. In this application, certain external features of people can be manipulated using a controller. For example, the hair color can be changed or makeup can be added. The program is able to recognize which characteristics could fit with the face of a given person. For example, it tends not to give women a beard. This is partly because the training set did not include any women with beards and so the network is not aware of any bearded women.

I think that AI image generation is similar in many ways to photography. The camera itself handles all the fine details, but the photographer is in charge of curating the types of images that will be created.
Ultimately, it is all about maximizing the probability that something good will be created.
This is very similar to AI image generation, in terms of the skills involved and what the human does vs. what the machine does.
You can't compare AI image generation to the process of actually making these images from scratch with 3D software or paint/pencils, where the human controls every detail.
However, I think the process really is very similar to that of photography, as I made the case for above. I think that DALL-E 3 is by far the most powerful AI image generation tool currently available.

GPT-2 is the name for a machine learning model with which the American research group OpenAI has developed a remarkably powerful speech system. GPT-2 is “Transformer“ based, that‘s the name of a very new approach to NLP (Natural Language Processing), where the system learns on its own which words and parts of a text are given more attention. The model was trained “unsupervised“ with the simple goal of predicting the next word, taking into account all previous words in a text. It has been fed with texts from 8 million web pages, can take 1.5 billion parameters into account, and can thus produce impressive “real” looking texts. For this it needs a so-called “prompt,” only a few words or sentences from which the model then completely independently generates extensive texts, which continue to write the topic of the initial statement.

The amazing power of Dall-E2 by OpenAI. I was lucky enough to be selected for the beta testing on this and I have to say, I am totally blown away by its capabilities. At this time options are limited but I am sure in the full version it will be much more capable.
