Aeronaut Speederbike 1 of 14

While the LSB contest was going on, I built a series of what I am calling “aeronauts”; speederbikes, designed for more atmospheric flight.

I plan to upload one per day, 14 in all (…so far). I’m definitely open to critique, and to hearing your opinions as to their validity as speederbikes (seems only fair; personally, I think 6 of them are more like “small airplanes”). Like Christopher Hoffmann’s designs, I was inspired by many of the flight-oriented anime out there.

I’m planning on bringing these to BrickWorld 2017 as well… I’m still deciding how best to display them; either build an airship to fly around, a microscale landscape to fly over, or try for floating islands... it will probably depend on my parts supply after my other BW projects are done (…or perhaps on interest from anyone in doing a collaboration).

It's about time I got a Star Wars sets. I believe volumex designed or had something to do with this set and he did one hell of a job. I can't stop looking at the airborne trooper.

Psalm 22:30

Posterity will serve him; future generations will be told about the Lord.

Chose this title for two reasons....

Firstly this is the challenge that faces us all in the New Year ahead with the ongoing uncertainty and continuance of COVID and secondly the crew of this locomotive faced there own challenge when ensuring they had sufficient steam pressure to tackle one of the steepest and longest half mile gradients on the line before arriving and levelling off at Crowcombe Heathfield Station, Somerset. The fireman is also ensuring the unmanned level crossing, to my immediate right, is clear.

Pictured on Friday 11th March 2016, is resplendent Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway (S & DJR) 7F 2-8-0 No. 53808. Eleven of these Fowler designed locomotives were built in two batches in 1914 and 1925 to haul coal and goods trains. All were based at Bath Green Park BR Shed Code 82F whose shed code plate appears on the locomotive's smoke-box door. They were regularly used until withdrawal between 1959 and 1964.

Two are preserved - the other being 53809. Pleasingly, both locomotives appeared at the West Somerset Railway's March 2016 Spring Steam Gala - commemorating the 50th Anniversary Demise of the S & DJR which closed on 7th March 1966. A very sad day indeed!

When you are sitting on the top row of the Royal Albert Hall you have a few stairs to climb before you get to your level. It was fun to look back at where we had come and know that afterward it will be downhill all the way!

This stairway reminds me that life's journey is not a straight path or an easy uphill walk. Rather, it can be strenuous at times, full of turns, course corrections, and blind corners. If we have faith and courage, continuing on our upward path, resting when needed, we will at last arrive at the top and looking back with some satisfaction, see the end result of all of our efforts.

I’ve been working on a personal study for about six years now called “The Path of Least Resistance.” It’s a study on how water flows and interacts with its environment and surrounding objects. I look forward to sharing more of it with you!

Conrail B36-7 5015 had the ML411 north on the Buffalo Line near Dauphin back in 1994.

Those were the days.

It was quite... challenging to do this shoot. I had to move the tripod from the middle of the road over and over again because there were too many trucks and bikes passed by. This was somewhere in an industrial city. But I think it was worth the result. Hope everyone's having a great Monday!

Today First Weymouth introduced a new service for the peak summer season. Route 510 called the "Slowcoaster". As the title suggests it's a slow ride along the Jurassic coast starting from Weymouth and heading to Portland via Wyke and onward to Bridport calling at many points of interest on the way. 33146 is one of two buses I believe re branded specially for the route.
