There 's nothing like cool temperatures and fresh air to raise the spirits. during my forays to the Alabama Hills the temperature can get up into the 100's and when they do, this is where I seek refuge. At around 9000 ft in elevation the difference in temperature is about 15 degrees and there nothing better the a fine mist that floats away from the falls right onto your weary soul.

I don't know what made me chose these particular words the evening before the world woke up to the hideous assault being perpetrated on the Ukraine.
But words can be potent - guns and missiles only bring blood and death - words are what we, who don't bear arms, have as our weapons.
Words of unity, of love, of support. Words matter.
I hope, with all my heart - that the people of Ukraine will triumph in their fight. My tears are theirs.
to pass onto others a piece of information we have obtained by observation and preserved it photographically forever. Allow me to quote Ernst Haas: ’You see what you think, you see what you feel, you are what you see… If with the camera you can make others see it – that is photography.’

"I keep staring at the sun, it's in my blood
I'm headed for disaster
Burn bridges just for fun, have I gone numb?
It's a goddamn shame
I push away the people that I love the most
Addicted to the feeling and the chemicals
I'm holding onto hope, but it only destroys me
'Cause I'm in love with bad things
Yeah, I'm in love with"

My faith is my Rock and my Shield.
As we approach Easter weekend, this is my prayer:
Psalm 33:20
"We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, as we put our hope in you."
May you all have a blessed Easter and a great weekend.
Thank you for your kind favs and comments.
Zoomed onto to peak of Mt Fuji while keeping the leaves in the frame . Wanted to have the barren snow peak and green leaves together in the same frame like spring in winter !

Onto the canvas once more, my eyes dance with her Autumn rhythm.
With each turn, her leaves flow slowly like hair in a gentle breeze.
Around and around we go, like two lovers that just won't let go.
Alas, it came to an end, but my memories dance along with my playful grin.
Getting back to some Autumn color. This shot was taken on the trail to Hemlock Falls in northern Georgia. Wishing everyone a wonderful day ahead. Thanks for the favs and kind words. They are much appreciated!
With some clouds around and the time free at sunset, headed down to Middle River this evening. Liked the band of golden light below the blue tones clouds and then some scattered light onto the higher clouds in the sky.

Intense sunset light hits the Pulpit Rock at the head of Portland Bill.
This intense golden light lasted only a few minutes but it was phenomenal. I managed this long exposure before breaking my ND Grad when it slipped from my frozen fingers onto the legendary Portland Stone here!
Believe it or not, but I hadn't posted this frame and found it in my files yesterday. I had posted a portrait standard exposure with this light and overlooked this one!! There was a tremendous amount of seaspray as I recall as it was very windy, so I may have overlooked it as I thought it wouldn't be sharp. But on re-examination I like it!
“May the light of the morning sun, shine upon you. May the deepest and sweetest love always find you.” - Dr. Debasish Mridha (American physician, philosopher, poet-seer, and author).
The theme for “Looking Close on Friday” for the 25th of February is “monochromatic bubble bokeh”. The day the theme was announced, it was a beautiful sunny morning, and I had the French doors open onto my garden. All I had to do to meet the theme for this week was to take a few steps out onto my back terrace and there was the perfect shot: some new growth on one of the James Stirling Pittosporums bathed in the morning light. The gentle light was perfect to make lots of bubble bokeh in my background as it filtered through the leaves of the trees. The shot was very green in colour, so I originally made the monochrome green, but found the sepia gave it a warmer feel. I hope you like my choice of the theme this week, and that it makes you smile.
She slipped a ragged woollen jumper onto her sweaty body as she left the bedroom for the now chilly Tuscany night. We went down the stairs and into our courtyard, walked by the well, glancing at the last flowers by the wall, before reaching the bathroom in the old stable. We embraced under the steamy flow and I clumsily spluttered a few simple words that meant the world to me. She giggled and scolded me for being so inarticulate. She stepped out of the shower, wrapped a towel around her breasts, paused a few seconds, then turned around with her gentlest smile, and whispered...."yes I do".
This is us.

I heard a boat had gone onto the rocks at Bournda Island, so I took a walk there today. I was a little disappointed that it was not something a bit more substantial but nevertheless, it was something different . It turned out to be a decent sized tinny with damage to the right side. It could have been washed into the ocean from one of the many floods on the east coast of Australia. A police ribbon has been tied to the front. A big sea this day and I was surprised it was still there but could then see it was firmly stuck in the sand adjacent to the island channel. Bournda National Park Far South Coast NSW.
I went out for a drive in the rain today to see if there was any snowy action... this snowy owl surprised me at first coming out from behind the break-water rocks at the wharf... he flew out onto the bay and caught something in his talons... then flew off away from me to scare away another snowy coming toward him. Then he landed on the navigation light close to where I was. I waited for about another half hour till he decided to fly off and I got this shot. They are so fast and I was in my car as to not get soaked ... I did manage to get him all in the frame ... lol
I found some light mesh in the garden for this week's theme, the challenge then was how to light it. The t light candle came to mind and I used a reflector to send a little light onto the mesh.

I actually made it up onto Hessian Hill in Cornish today in time to catch the sunset and it did not disappoint.
This late sunset at about 8:30 p.m. bounced onto the eastern clouds surprised me and brought me joy.
No increased saturation. Only had time to take the D810 and 105mm f/2.8 prime outside to capture that light on the trees.
Many thanks for looking! Please, no advice. There are many who take skilled landscape shots. I am not one of them ;)
. . . They had stepped out of the party and onto the bridge . . .
Kulaan D. Dragon nodded, and turned to her. He walked, slowly, towards her as he looked to the side again. "I lied before. I suppose it's part of my education that I..." he trailed off and stopped, shaking his head and settled his eyes on the girl. "You're beautiful, every detail I notice. The hair, the gown, the butterflies, every touch of it, and every bit of you." he smiled, and took a step or two more towards her. "Even the crown. It's all so.... you." he continued, softly, almost with a touch of melancholy. "And it's more beautiful than a thousand Hogwarts." he finished.
Rya Voinea ... the poor girl was biting the inside of her cheek as he spoke. because she didn't know how to take it. Forget about the cool air outside .. she was hot enough that she couldn't even feel that. She pulled in her lower lip then and looked off to the side a moment before she replied softly.. "Tis onleh t'e costume. I will go back tae being plain meh a'ter today."

An evening scene at the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal, right outside the main basin of Gloucester Docks, towards Llanthony Bridge which is seen at the right.
The last rays of the sun were falling onto the abandoned warehouse and gave the color to the fast moving clouds.

Once upon a time I freelanced for a couple of Calendar greeting card publishers. Most of my images were taken on Medium Format or 35mm transparency film and have 1000s stored away that need sorting. They are quite easy to copy onto digital, thanks to my home made equipment. Every now and again I pick a few slides out to re-copy. Goodness knows how long ago i snapped this?

This 7-spot ladybird blundered onto my hand (there were loads in the garden today) and I watched it climb up my finger and launch itself.
Lovely warm day. Heard the first bats of the year in the evening.
Handheld, natural light.
The light shines through the window onto the mantelpiece. It's a gentle light and it slowly warms up its surroundings. Ages ago the old farm house was in full bloom and there were sounds of horses and people tending them. It was a happy place but at the same time it was a harsh and hard place. Its still the same light that shines through the window but the people and horses are now gone. When you look through the window you feel like you looking into the past. You can imagine what they saw and what they felt, ages ago while tending to their chores. It's a window from the past.

I have been busy today putting my photos onto CDs. We are going to Victoria on Thursday and we are dropping the computer in for an overhaul whilst we are away and I was told that I would be better to add my photos to CDs or risk losing them. After losing all my photos a while back when the hard disk died, I wasn't willing to risk it again.
