In 2020 a branch of UBS closed its counter area in St. Margrethen. What remained were two ATMs and a Multimat for online banking. Then one of the two ATMs was removed. After UBS acquired CS for a bargain price, the St. Margrethen UBS site is now being closed entirely. These multimats, which do not contain money, enable online banking over a more secure connection than a private Internet link. Payment slips can also be conveniently scanned. Actually a practical thing, but just a public service and a cost factor. Get rid of it! Switzerland, June 20, 2023.

My colleague was already logged in to the Lloyds TSB online banking site when this popup appeared within the page. Since he's on a secure website, you'd *almost* think it was legitimate, but it most certainly isn't.
After calling Lloyds' online department he was informed that this is *not* something that Lloyds themselves have added to their site and straight away recommended he run a virus check. They confirmed that other people have also reported the same popup.
Worryingly, if they'd asked for a little less information then he might have actually filled it in.
It's worth noting that our company-wide antivirus software did *not* pick this one up, but Malwareytes (freeware) did.

Technology is copied, then varied and the fittest is selected to survive. That is, it replicates like DNA. And it’s evolving very much faster than DNA ever has. And we change our behaviour, manipulated with incredible ease.

Online Banking depresses me.
I disagree chaos comes with age. I think it depends in each situation, there might be other comforts and in the same way or therefore, other type of discomforts.
I find it sometimes annoying. Generalizing, yes, annoying.

I inexpediently got a new debit card from my bank the other day, and along with it came this funny little thing. Apparently, due to all those naughty hackers and fraudsters trying to steal our money, Barclays have come up with this thing. Its called PINsentry, and is like your own personal Chip and Pin device used for logging onto your online banking and making Internet based payments and transfers! As you can see, your debit card slips in the top, and after entering your pin code you are given a unique number to use online. clever stuff!
