"The lesson of wisdom is, be not dismayed by soul-trouble. Count it no strange thing, but a part of ordinary… experience. Should the power of depression be more than ordinary, think not that all is over with your usefulness. Cast not away your confidence, for it hath great recompense of reward. Even if the enemy’s foot be on your neck, expect to rise amid and overthrow him. Cast the burden of the present, along with the sin of the past and the fear of the future, upon the Lord, who forsaketh not his saints."

- Charles Spurgeon, The Minister’s Fainting Fits

From my very good friend Tee, who lets me know she loves me.

One of the reasons my photography is such an outlet for me is that I have been battling depression for several years now, mostly due to the effect of my Lyme disease on my body's ability to produce hormones.

I've had to learn a lot about finding beauty in the "where I am," when all I really feel like doing is curling up in a ball and waiting for the world to go by without having to engage with it.

This shot speaks to me deeply of the many-layered beauty that may be found in the rainy days, the days when the gloom doesn't lift and all you want is a little light to let you know it's still there, behind the clouds...

#MacroMondays possibility for 11/4

theme: #OneWord….

****Btb, I am having a devil of a time with Flickr - for the last few days I’m been getting mini-freezes. Makes it hard to comment and to add pictures.. SIGH. And, yes, I have rebooted my phone and Flickr. I’m surprised I can add this on to the description.

MM. one word….. I won’t be able to use this bc it’s sealed up and ready to drop off at town hall, so I can’t measure it to see if it fits the MM parameters. Context picture in the photostream

The thing that I love about photojournalism is that it surprises even the photographer. I use a wide-angle shot to get all of the story that I can when it is happening, but so many times, I don't find the story until processing, and then even I am blown away. I love it because it is a constant chance at discovery about love, about life. I don't get to shoot a lot of photojournalism when I'm doing my detailed 365, but this really is my true passion.
