The wheels of carts going round town had to be a set distance apart in order to clear the stepping stones. The grooves in the road pre-aligned the wheels for this set of stepping stones so that no manoeuvring was needed. It kept the traffic moving.
As the grooves are only on one side, it suggests that a one-way system may have been in operation.
WHAT DO YOU THINK? PLEASE COMMENT
I was heading to Centenary Square via the back, kind of going in reverse of a route I took before.
Saw some things on or near Cambridge Street to take.
The dullness of the clouds was because it was about to rain (lightly).
Kept wanting better shots of the crane on the site.
Behind is The REP and the Hyatt Hotel. On this road there is a one way system in operation. And the footpath is closed. You can clearly see why.
