Bond Hill area of Cincinnati, Ohio. This is the NE corner of the intersection. I was amazed that two very similar convenience stores could be right across the street from each other yet both seem to be doing well. The bars over the windows say something about the area, but what do the four cement blocks on the roof tell you? Are the two cars pointing away from the building aligned that way for a fast get away?

Mike & Liz came today, and we had lunch at the Hope & Anchor. Liz & I both had the tuna steak, which was nice for a change, but quite a large meal, and the tuna was a little underdone in places. In the afternoon, I had to go to the Beehive Surgery (so called because it is based in a building which used to be the Beehive pub!) to get a form signed by a doctor so I can claim council tax exemption for Olive. Peggy Dodd's informed us that we might be entitled due to Olicve's dementia. I then had to go to town, to the council's One Stop Shop, to find out about other requiements on the form. I'm not sure if Olive will get the exemption, but it's certainly worth applying for.
Mum was sleepy and reluctant to drink, but she managed OK overall today - I try to get as much as I can into her in the mornings before she nods off for the day!
This evening, I did more scanning of Mum & Dad's old documents, certificates etc. ready to attach some of them to their ancestry.co.uk entries.

This is Walmart Supercenter # 4350 at 200 Old Fairgrounds Way in Kilmarnock, VA.
Despite opening in 2007, this store feels a smaller than a traditional Supercenter, and lacks a Tire Center. This is the only Walmart store in Virginia's Northern Neck.

Croydon Council is opening a temporary 'one stop shop' to ensure people affected by the civil unrest that occurred in the borough and other parts of London this month can get immediate advice and support on everything from insurance claims to housing and emergency benefits.
Based at the Croydon Voluntary Action (CVA) resource centre in London Road, the shop will open this Friday and will be staffed between 9am and 5pm by council officers to ensure local people get fast, free and straightforward access to vital services such as housing, counselling, insurance and business advice, planning issues, and welfare claims.
Although the shop will be open to the public, the expected high demand for services means the council is asking people to book appointments in advance, so it can ensure all the necessary services are available. These include:
Business – the council’s business and insurance teams can advise on what support is being made available for local businesses, ranging from interest-free loans to help and support for those uninsured businesses which may need to claim directly to the Government to recover their losses.
Housing – staff will be on hand to give advice and support to those who have been made homeless or are currently in temporary accommodation organised by the council following the disorder.
Welfare and Benefits – advice on what benefits may be available and help in completing any necessary applications.
Counselling – the council can signpost to a range of counselling services to help people who have been heavily affected by the impact on their local area or their business.
Planning – advice to businesses and individuals on the support the council is making available to help streamline the planning process for rebuilding the area – from offering free pre-planning advice to fast-tracking planning applications.
Councillor Sara Bashford, cabinet member for customer services, said: “This is about making sure the residents in and around the London Road area – which was badly affected during the disorder we saw during the riots - know that help is at hand.
