Polaroid onestep+ i-type B&W expired film

Taken with a Polaroid OneStep camera on Impossible Project PX 70 Color Shade Push film.

Scanned approximately two weeks after exposure and holy cow it really did turn blue. IP warned that it might have a slight blue tint, but that white wall looks like it was soaked in kool aid. Oh well, I like the picture a lot better now. Is it a bad thing that I usually like my pictures better after IP defects have set in?

Polaroid SX-70 Sonar OneStep (one open, one in it's folded position)

"The SX-70 is a folding single lens reflex Land Camera produced by the Polaroid Corporation in the 1970s. It is the first instant SLR in history, and the first camera to use Polaroid's new integral print film, which developed automatically without the need for intervention from the photographer - this was a revolution at the time, and a precursor to today's 600 and Spectra films. The SX-70 was also notable for its elegant folding design, which allowed the camera to be compact enough to fit a man's suit-jacket pocket when collapsed."

Polaroid's Enschede, Holland film plant was the last source on earth for the 'integral' SX-70, 600 and Spectra films... Impossible as it may seem, in late 2008 a dozen former employees of that Polaroid plant and Florian Kaps, the Austrian entrepreneur behind the effort, undertook the aptly named Impossible Project .

They were able to take a lease on the plant and intercept the 9 integral-film assembly-machines before they were cut up and hauled off for scrap. They're currently working from scratch to create new development chemicals so that they can begin selling new versions of the 125 and 600 ASA films in 2010.

It would appear that their efforts are about to bear fruit, as Polaroid is to introduce in mid-February (if they're on schedule), in partnership with The Impossible Project, a newly redesigned Polaroid One Step Camera.

Polaroid Onestep Express, Impossible testfilm PX680 - V4B (shot outside in the sun, lightwheel neutral, temp 100 degrees)

I found a pack of unexposed film in a Polaroid camera I bought. This was the best frame from the pack.

Driving around I shot an inadvertaint Triptych. Although they oddly matched up, they were shot in three different spots.

Finding this camera was the genesis for my current Polaroid "diversion".

I found it several years ago at my uncle's house in Wausau (say, 2005-ish) and brought it home. Around 2008 or so I bought some 600 film at the hardware store of all places, tossed it in (no ND filter or anything) and shot an exposure or two for laughs, then put it away for a few years. At some point I started using it as a display prop in the Fiero (for shows and stuff), and I burned a few exposures at Dixie Square on the second visit, but as I had no clue what I was doing they turned out to be useless. Finally I finished off the pack at Fierorama 2010 and actually got some great shots - some of the most vividly-colorful pics shot on 600 film.

The real fun with Polaroid began when I started buying film for the Big Swinger, the following year. As for the OS-BC, it doesn't see much action these days but it's still a nice display piece.

I really like this shot, because it shows the buildings true size and it has wonderful colors. Shot with Polaroid OneStep Land Camera and PX 70 Impossible Film (batch 12/11).

Ah, the seventees. Communism was still going strong in my country. Nothing was available to buy. Everything was looking the same. So people used whatever was at hand to build and decorate their homes. The results were often quite wild. Many houses like this one still stand to remind us of those times. And while the houses are often colourful, those times were anything but.
