Alex took a seat with a slice of pumpkin cheesecake while Tierney stood close with her cup of pumpkin spice cappuccino, both quietly soaking in the calm before the celebration.

The table was already filling with warm, comforting dishes of stews, bread bowls, baked meatloaf, and golden cornbread. The kitchen smelled like sage and roasted garlic, with a hint of sweet spice lingering from their bakery visit.
