Bright red and vibrant, a lone tomato in a sea of bright orange. I do have rather penchant for tomatoes and these small Aramatica (smaller than a cherry tomato) ones are my favourites.
Taken for the Flickr Friday theme of One and Only - there will never be another like this, as it was made by my son nearly 30 years ago whilst he was at secondary school, in his woodwork lesson.
I still love it to this day!
Phalaenopsis orchid, I believe.

Orchids grow high up on tree branches in tropical rainforests so they like filtered light. And, the tendrils that hold them to a tree branch are not roots, so they shouldn't be in standing water. Orchid potting soil is very open and airy. It is not really soil. It's more like wood chips. Orchids are epiphytes that get nutrients from the air or from water running down tree trunks or branches.
They also like cooler temperatures at night, so lowering the thermostat at night is a good idea.
Sometimes it takes a few years for a plant to send up a new flower stalk.
I am not an expert, so if I have no orchid plants in flower on my kitchen windowsill, I will add a new one that I fall in love with at the supermarket...;-)

Took this shot while departing St. Martin after a wonderful vacation there. Love the colors and light during this golden hour time of the day. Also reminds me of what a large, diverse, beautiful planet we live on, of which this is just a tiny snippet.

Abandoned by a couple of companions, much to its bemusement. Standing proud on a perch over an urban park pool, contemplating whether the fog makes fishing easier.

A "one and only" macro panorama of a unique combination of mini liquor bottles, submitted for the Flickr Friday theme, "OneAndOnly."
Strobist/technical info:
This is a 7-image macro panorama composite stitched together in Hugin Panorama Editor. The bottles span 12-inches. They were illuminated by two Nikon SB900 speedlights, fired through two Neewer 24" x 24" soft boxes. The speedlights were placed 90-degrees CL and CR, twenty-inches above and two-feet away from the subject, pointing down at 45-degrees. Both speedlights were fired in Manual mode @ 1⁄8 power.
The SB900's were triggered by three PocketWizard Plus X's.
Panorama head: Fanotec Nodal Ninja III Mk III with Fanotec Advanced Rotator D10.
Lens: AF - S DX VR Zoom - Nikkor 18 - 200mm f / 3.5 - 5.6G IF - ED[II] with 12mm extension tube attached.

Grand soleil sur la baie de Quiberon, l'occasion de se poser sur ce banc pour admirer la mer.
Great sun on the bay of Quiberon, the opportunity to sit on this bench to admire the sea.
Newcastle Brown Ale has a nearly 100 year history, but is no longer independently brewed and is part of the Heineken empire. "The One and Only" slogan remains though.
For this shot, I had to sort through a few bottles in the supermarket to find ones where the slogan embossed on the bottle matched up with the labelling - they seem a bit random. The lettering on the bottles isn't very clear, so I then had the idea of using candles behind the bottles to highlight it (which made it necessary to remove the back labels from the bottles too). By the time I'd done all that, it was blue hour outside, so the combination of candlelight and blue twilight from the window gives the contrast seen in the composition.
I tried a few shots with different depths of field, but my choice is this one at f/2.

The solitude of winter passerby.
Just the day after a rare snow fall in Paris area
As we settle in to the ‘polar vortex,’ the coldest weather of the year so far, the air conditioner is hibernating... 😉
The air conditioner, wearing its 'winter coat,' and topped with the earlier dusting of snow, is now sparkling in the glorious sunshine ☀️
An unexpected find of something so easily overlooked, and as I walked by it caught my attention... ;-)
