All life is sacred. Since life is an affirmation of the

Creator, I shall live on, even when I am gone.

In trailing clouds of glory shall I return,

only to find that I had never really left.

I shall walk among the lilies of the field of heavens

and leave my trail in stardust in the sky...

A single raw file in mild HDR process. Taken while aboard a Cathay Pacific Flight from Hong Kong to Singapore...

And in case you might wonder, yes, these are clouds and not the sea. The sea is way below (30,000 ft below) and what is the dark blue stuff here...

It must be raining down there

Long and narrow rice fields are divided by roads, streams, and dirt walls, creating an interesting scene from the plane. Some of the fields are almost featureless because they are basically just pools of water at this time. I'm not sure why the fields are so narrow, but they look interesting compared to the more square shaped fields that are common back home in Canada.

I love seeing the clouds from above, looking like strange mountains from a foreign landscape.

A year ago today, we were landing in Buenos Aires! I wish I was landing there again today! That city has my heart!

Not a typo, just a play on words.

Who doesn't love some good cumulus clouds? I was happy to see these, with the mountain poking through the lower clouds and giving a better sense of scale to the giant mountains of water above.

From the airplane, flooded rice fields look like some kind of strange puzzle.

Another in my series of details of old 35mm photos, this is from the same pic as "Detail II". Again heavily filtered and with a border this time.

A river in Southeast Asia that seemed to go on forever. Not the best photo, but I thought the river was interesting enough to share.

Playing catch up with my 365 project. My second flight of the day gave me a glimpse of the Canadian rockies :)

I found this letter inside of a airplane magazine , on my way to Baltimore.

A positive view of things and wishing whoever reads this, they are lucky 🍀

Cumulus clouds (probably Cumulus mediocris) and some other type of clouds that I can't easily identify. (Cirrocumulus?)

Not the best photo, but I thought it was an interesting scene. I've got some more of these, and a few good ones too, then I'll finally be getting into photos of Thailand. (This could actually be over Thailand, but I can't say for sure)

she tried lots of sleeping positions, including under a big blanket--

am hoping she didn't have a migraine; can't imagine traveling with one!!

Japan, I'm coming back ! Rock & Roll !

This reminds me of the old city in Chiang Mai which is surrounded by a moat. (the one in Chiang Mai is bigger and square)

I thought it was interesting to see the different phases of water in stereoscopic 3D.

I'm not sure if my focus was off, or it was just a dirty window (maybe a little bit of both) but I think the blurring produced some tilt shift effect, making this look a bit like a miniature scene.

Chicken spring roll with daikon sprouts and a peanut dressing.

On my way home to Israel, there was a group of Orthodox Jews on my flight. When their 5am prayer came, I took the opportunity to take some photos as they were standing in the isles, facing towards Jerusalem (the front of the plane,) and praying.

SEE MY PROFILE FOR MORE OF THIS SHOOT!

Beef filet with shrimp mac-n-cheese (they seem to have forgotten the cheese) and asparagus.

This is a stereoscopic image to show depth. If you cross your eyes so the two images overlap and align, it should look 3D. (it works like a magic eye, if you remember those)

This is the kind of scene where stereoscopy really shines. It's too bad I couldn't get more of the scene below, but there's only so much one can do from a small window on a fast moving airplane.

It's neat to see the top of a cloud punching through a layer of clouds (like the previous photo, and this one) but to see underneath the layer of clouds as well is even better, and that area of the photo (bottom left) seems super depthy. (yes, I made that last word up, but if it catches on, it could be a real word someday, so feel free to use it)

Salmon tartare paupiette or roulade with capers and a tomato and dill dressing.

I'm not sure if this is natural flooding, controlled flooding, or a mix of the two, but that's a flooded river if I ever saw one!

Mascarpone sun-dried tomato raviolis and wild mushroom raviolis, with toasted pine nuts and feta cheese.

it's a Glory! Thankyou Jens! :)

and a rather spectacular one at that, this pic does it no justice. :)

On a Plane to Bali - 2010

I like how the depth worked out with this one (probably because there's a bigger difference in perspective between the 2 photos, from waiting a little longer before taking the second shot) but the top of the stupa looks strange to me. I think what's going on is that to look at the things in the background, you have to adjust your eyes a little differently than if you're looking at things in the foreground. The stupa of the temple is so tall that even though it's in the foreground, it overlaps the background. (I guess it's really an issue of the angle the photo was taken from, if it was from straight over head, I don't think it would be a problem) So I'm guessing the strange "flickering" I'm getting in that area is just my eyes trying to focus on two different depths at the same time, or maybe even switching back and forth between them, since they can't do 2 at once.

You get a similar effect when something is in one frame but not the other (or it's moved a bit) like the cars on the highway behind the temple. It's also a problem with reflections on some things.

It took me a long time to find this building on google maps, in hopes of finding the name, but it's not labeled.
