'Sailing Away' On Black

heavy rainfall and thunderstorm while we were on a boatcrossing Lake Windermere to return to Ambleside

This summer I took a trip up to Alaska and it was a bit sureal. I haven't posted any pictures yet because I think they all look unreal. It's weird how that happens. When you are photographing something that looks so different than what you are used to capturing, it doesn't feel real.

Some of my older contacts know that I often dip into my archives and occasionally find little gems that had been forgotten or overlooked.

"Polperro is a 13th century fishing village, originally belonging to the ancient Raphael manor mentioned in the Domesday Book. Fishing has been the principal occupation of its inhabitants for centuries. When Britain was at war with its neighbours in the 18th century, duty on many goods was increased considerably, encouraging the Polperro fishermen to smuggle goods such as tea, gin, brandy and tobacco across from Guernsey. Polperro is currently one of the most popular resorts in Britain for artists. Some of the earliest photographs ever taken were of Polperro and its inhabitants.”

I believe these contraptions load train cars with material, however they caught my eye because to me they look like giant mechanical dogs.

The Saigon River in HCMC is a busy waterway. There is a lot of dredging with loads of river silt heading to HCMC to fuel the city building boom

Fishermen go out in the Caribbean in relatively small boats and fish overnight or for a few days straight. They then return to moorings right beside the sidewalk in the heart of Willemstad to sell their catch, napping as they can.

Mireille and me and a bunch of other girls went on a boat trip through Rotterdam.

It is an impressive city (even though I'm not rooting for their football club! :-P )

Star Gazing

Laying on my back, upside down holding the camera against part of the mast for balance and steadiness - had the exposure open for 30 seconds. The night was windy and the anchored boat was being pushed side to side - creating a unique circle of star trails.
