This was the last glimpse back over the landscape hiked on the last Saturday, on the ancient Valeriana road that runs alongside Lake Iseo and up to the mountains, and to be completed in several stages.
Cold, sun then clouds, and many beauty.
Comincio dalla fine ... questo l'ultimo colpo d'occhio a ritroso sul paesaggio percorso sabato, da Tassano a Vesto Gandone sulla antica strada Valeriana, che attraversa magnifici uliveti e borghi antichi che guardano il lago d'Iseo e Montisola.
Questo antico cammino prevede 9 tappe da Brescia sino a Edolo e poi con una ulteriore tappa a scelta per raggiungere Tirano oppure Ponte di Legno.
Freddo, sole poi nuvole, e tanta bellezza.

Just got in from a walk up near the monastery and whilst out we chanced upon this magnificent old tree amongst lots of vine groves. We passed lots of hunters with their dogs and guns as the hunting season has begun in earnest; it started again on 15 August

Vineyards and olive groves somewhere in the interior of Istria in Croatia. And especially the oak tree that was shaped by the sun, rain, and winds over the years since it was in that place. Location Belaj Castle, Istria, Croatia.

This trail is ancient and very well preserved. Through the mountains you can reach the village called Agiasos. The inhabitants use it to go to their olive groves. On the 15th of August every year thousands of inhabitants of Lesvos island from this very uphill path go to worship the Virgin Mary of Agiasos. The ascent takes about two and a half hours.
We visited the lavender fields near Valensole and on the way stopped by this lavender field on the left. It's near Allemagne-en-Provence. We parked the car and walked down this track to see if we could find a lavender field which was pristine so I could take some photos but unfortunately we had no luck. What they don't tell you in the magazines is that the majority of lavender fields have weeds/grasses amongst them which kinda spoils it for a good photo. To the right is an olive grove and on the horizon to the left just beyond the lavender field is an almond grove. It was incredibly hot so we didn't hang around for too long before rushing back to the air conditioned car. I was amazed by the amount of insects flying around and the huge amount of bees taking full advantage of the lavender field.
I've shown Luminar 4 as one of my tags but just in case anyone is wondering, that is my own sky, not a 'replacement' sky! :-)

Stopped at the Walmart in Willows California today. But, before going inside to shop, I noticed some pretty crazy looking clouds dancing over the olive grove north of the back parking lot. A photo op is always going take priority over shopping.

Another day, another time, and always beautiful, in my opinion. This morning, the fog didn't form until late after sunrise. Very early on, there was an almost apocalyptic morning sky, but more on that later...
Anderer Tag, andere Uhrzeit und immer wieder schön wie ich finde. An diesem Morgen bildete sich der Nebel erst spät nach Sonnenaufgang. Ganz früh hatte es einen fast apokalyptischen Morgenhimmel, aber dazu später irgendwann mal...
Some evening shot under the tuscan sun. The sun through an olive grove. Warm air surrounds you with the chirring of millions of crickets. Italian mood at it´s finest :)

On the morning of May 11, 2025, I stood with about five other photographers from Scotland at this location above the Val d'Orcia and experienced a sky over the valley that I have rarely seen before. This sky coloration lasted for about 30 minutes from 5:15 to about 5:45 am.
I couldn't think of any other term for it, such as apocalypse or end-time mood.
Am 11. Mai 2025 stand ich morgens mit ca. 5 anderen Fotografen aus Schottland an diesem Standort oberhalb des Val d'Orcia und erlebte einen Himmel über dem Tal, wie ich ihn auch sonst noch selten gesehen habe. Diese Himmelsfärbung dauerte etwa 30 Minuten lang von 5:15 bis ca. 5:45 Uhr.
Eine andere Bezeichnung wie Apokalypse oder Endzeitstimmung fiel mir dazu nicht ein.
This is an olive grove in the nearby village of Sillans-la-Cascade. The church sits on the edge of the grove.
View during the early jours af ter sunrise at the plains around the hills of "Les Alpilles". They are covered with olive groves and oyther trees all over the place. St.-Remy-de-Provence (Provence), 2015.

Hi my friends, here it is another sunrise from Umbria, Italy - actually, same time and same place as one of my previous uploads (Then Someone drew the curtains and..., as you can easily see from the warped trunk of the oak tree near the center of the scene).
If you are thinking that it is a bit more than pretentious that an Italian is composing verses in English, you are in part right - only in part, though, since I do not assume that I have written good verses, but I felt like trying to convey the emotions that went with the adventure of processing this scene. Hope that the result is at least decent.
I have obtained this picture by blending an exposure bracketing [-1.3/0/+1.3 EV] by luminosity masks in the Gimp (EXIF data, as usual, refer to the "normal exposure" shot), then I added some final touches with Nik Color Efex Pro 4 (and a little trick of mine involving a bw version of the photo). Raw files has been processed with Darktable.
