This house has been around since before the Civil War. The Officer family's only child was a Confederate soldier and while his group was nearby the house, he and a few of the boys decided to visit. All of the boys, save the young Officer lad were hid in the barn, while the Officer son was hid in the attic. The boys hidden in the barn were found by the Union Soldiers, brought out, lined up and shot. A local museum has one of the fence posts that still has a Union bullet in it.
