I'd been past this field on a few occasions recently, hoping to find a hare to photograph amongst the Buttercups. I found one this evening. Unfortunately the light had faded.

This person is one of my Muslim student who is praying on the occasion of Eid Mubarak.
With divine joy in my heart and a big smile on my face, I am sending you Eid-ul-Fitr wishes. May the Lord help us all be kind and virtuous. Eid Mubarak.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is a holy month of fasting and considered auspicious. It is celebrated as the month during which Prophet Muhammad received the initial revelations of what became the Quran, from God. Muslims fast from dawn to dusk each day during Ramadan to purify the soul and have empathy towards the less privileged. They offer prayers and encourage charity. Ramadan teaches self-control and self-reflection. Eid al-Fitr is celebrated marking the end of the month of Ramadan.
This Eid, let us plead for the well-being of our earth and lead with integrity.
My original plan was to get this at Foxfield, but having seen 37025 was on the rear I re-located to Kirkby-in-Furness where I went for a going-away shot of it instead. Thankfully despite the very thick wispy conditions, as it rounded the corner behind me, the sun just about came out fully for a brief moment.
After first seeing this loco about 4 years ago, It has followed me around and have probably seen it on about 20 occasions since, however none of which have been in sun, so it was nice to finally bag one of it, even if it was only on the rear.
Hello my amazing Flickr friends !
Today is a green day at Color my World Daily and we have another green picture for this occasion.
As you might or might not know, I‘m officially back at my office two day per week. Generally my coworkers are ecstatic about those 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home scenario. But in my case, it isn’t a huge improvement since I work part time: 3 days a week. So the 2 days when I have to go to my office are a huge hassle for me. I feel like Mrs Bag lady in this picture ! I have my huge bag (with all the useful things a middle age women (that is me !!) might or might not need while being away from home). Then I have my purse with my money, my phone, my subway card and my office key card … oh and a few emergency masks just in case they would come back in style. And of course, I have my computer bag, with my computer and my headset in it. I have to mention that when the weather is uncertain, I have some spare shoes and an umbrella. It is official people: without even noticing it, I have become a bag lady.
Have a beautiful day !! Mucho, mucho amor for you all !!
I try to get more followers on my instagram account. So if you are on IG and want to follow my feed, I will follow back for sure ! You can find me over here : www.instagram.com/anteketborka/?hl=fr
FYI: because of my renovation project I have to, constantly, move our stuff from one room to another on a very short notice !! So once again, I have to apologize for not answering your comments… I will try to catch up very shortly but for the next few days I’m afraid I will be M.I.A. (missing in action) !!!
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!!
On a rare occasion, a grackle or two will stop by to see what's going on here in the backyard. They usually eat a little and then they are on their way elsewhere. If I go out, they zip up to one of the oaks and hang out for a bit to see if I am going to leave so they can come back down.
They are not really very patient because if I stick around for more than a minute off they go. It's just as well, they are messy eaters and seem to drop more for the squirrels than they actually consume.
I do love the iridescent feathers and that gorgeous eye. This image was taken from the living room window. I seriously doubt I could have gotten a snap of him otherwise since they don't particularly like me.
Have a wonderful day and happy snapping.
Bohemian Waxwing - Bombycilla garrulus
The waxwings are passerine birds classified in the genus Bombycilla. They are brown and pale grey with silky plumage, a black and white eyestripe, a crest, a square-cut tail and pointed wings. Some of the wing feathers have red tips, the resemblance of which to sealing wax gives these birds their common name. According to most authorities, this is the only genus placed in the family Bombycillidae, although Phainoptila is sometimes included. There are three species, the Bohemian waxwing (B. garrulus), the Japanese waxwing (B. japonica) and the cedar waxwing (B. cedrorum).
Waxwings are not long-distance migrants, but move nomadically outside the breeding season. Waxwings mostly feed on fruit, but at times of year when fruits are unavailable they feed on sap, buds, flowers and insects. They catch insects by gleaning through foliage or in mid-air. They often nest near water, the female building a loose nest at the fork of a branch, well away from the trunk of the tree. She also incubates the eggs, the male bringing her food to the nest, and both sexes help rear the young.
They are not true long-distance migrants, but wander erratically outside the breeding season and move south from their summer range in winter. In poor berry years huge numbers can erupt well beyond their normal range, often in flocks that on occasion number in the thousands
L'occasione era unica !!! L'emozione è stata grandissima!!!

A very common Kingfisher found easily across our state in pretty much all kinds of habitats. The bird is a predator and adults do get pretty big - the size of smaller dove maybe - much bigger than most of the other kingfishers we normally see.
They are opportunistic predators and can be seen with a variety of prey in their beaks. This includes reptiles like Lizards and Skinks, smaller birds like White-Eyes, Flowerpeckers and even chicks of other birds, fish, beetles and Grasshoppers. They are aggressive and quite territorial. On a rare occasion, I sighted a territorial fight between this bird and the largest Kingfisher in South India, the Stork Billed Kingfisher. It was not a contest since this Kingfisher flew away from the area almost immediately.
Thanks in advance for your views and feedback.
Febbraio 2021, nuvole basse, fa freddo. E lei coglie l'occasione, sale, striscia e giunge in cima. Ed è allora che comincia a sognare...
* A view of Moraine Lake but sadly missing the famous view of the “Valley of Ten peaks” that should be in the background of the shot, the ten peaks are hidden by thick low cloud . It was pretty disappointing not to see that iconic landscape at its best but the colour of the lake is still pretty incredible I used a tripod for this shot so I was at least able to keep the ISO fairly low I did not adjust the colour
The weather was pretty hopeless while we were in the Lake Louise area .I had been expecting to take lots of photographs but persistent low cloud mist and rain put paid to that. We got about an hour of dry weather at Moraine Lake and we had two visits to Lake Louise but it was raining on both occasions . The other thing about the area is there are far too many people visiting . I walked round Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park on the same day that I took this shot. The lake was almost as beautiful there were hardly any people and it was dry. So three cheers for Yoho
THANKS FOR YOUR VISITING BUT CAN I ASK YOU NOT TO FAVE AN IMAGE WITHOUT ALSO MAKING A COMMENT. MANY THANKS KEITH. ANYONE MAKING MULTIPLE FAVES WITHOUT COMMENTS WILL SIMPLY BE BLOCKED
This specimen of Orthetrum cancellatum had to suffer some mishap to lose its abdomen and climb to the top of the pole.
On one occasion I saw how a wasp devoured the abdomen of a specimen of the same species, after falling to the ground and carrying it hooked on its body.
Photo taken in El Coto, a place that never ceases to amaze me.
Just a taught for all the moms around the world, enjoy this day, it's all yours. Happy Mother's day.
Waiting for my turn at photographing the Scripps Pier in La Jolla, I shot these two from an angle while the main photographer was coaching them on some poses.
Having delayed my final trip to the shops for a few essentials due to exceptionally photogenic atmospheric conditions, I knew that I had to try and make some images at Attenborough worth my while. I have visited this particular spot so many times, but rarely has there been the occasion when there has been the right balance between there being just enough mist to diffuse the sun and too much mist that obscures the sun altogether. The time of year is also cucial to this shot, as the sun rises in exactly the right place in December.
The Little Bunting is a scarce visitor to the UK and even rarer in Surrey. This particular bird has been around for a while but until this morning I'd not managed to get a reasonable shot of it despite trying on a number of occasions. After feeding on the ground amongst thick grasses it perched up on a gorse bush for a few moments.

I looked at the weather forecast last night on my 'Clear Outside' weather app and the promise of mist until around 9am was predicted. I thought long and hard about where exactly I wanted to be and yet despite having shot Lake Bled on around five occasions recently, I really could not resist returning, not least because it's only a five minute drive for me.
However this morning I opted not to return to my usual vantage point, the wooden boardwalk, but to try and capture a selection of images that as others put it 'classic Nicholson'. So on arriving at the car park next to the campsite (3 EUR an hour, ouch), I wandered down to the wooden jetty opposite and set up the camera. There are a couple of beautiful, simple, wooden Pletna boats by the lakeside and so I started with them but noticed a couple of minutes later the rocks and wooden posts that line the edge of the walkway.
So I turned my attention to them while continuing to feature the iconic church island in the centre of the frame in the background. The mist was very prevalent which provided me with seemingly endless compositional possibilities. It is fair to say that I was in my element and I am never happier than when capturing images that are intrinsically mine in style.
The colour in the sky was subtle this morning but the church was visible for most of the time that I was there but I have a couple of images where it disappeared altogether. Once I had finished with this particular area, I drove up the road to another car park which allowed me a brisk ten minute walk down to the water's edge to photograph the island 'head on' as it was. The composition has the entrance to the island visible, along with the countless number of steps that take you up to the church but I shall share that another day.
To finish my morning's shoot, I took the steps to the Cafe Belvedere, which enjoys an elevated position over the lake and it gave me a lot of enjoyment watching life continuing below me. Pletna boats being powered by an electric motor around the lake, fishermen trying to land the odd fish or two in their small boats, and kayakers taking an early morning cruise around the island while ducks quacked, birds sang and life, in general, felt great. Oh, what a time to be out enjoying nature.
I hope that you enjoy the image. Feel FREE TO SHARE it if you wish

Pretty sight on the Silky Oak, early this morning : a number of Rainbow Lorikeets stopped by to look for grubs under the tree bark, an occasion to show the back and front of these colourful birds /
On the rare occasions that I see Purple Sandpipers they are usually sitting motionless on a rock at their high tide roost. But this one was on the beach at Spurn by itself, and behaving like a Sanderling running ahead of the waves. Here it is running at full pelt just before becoming engulfed by an incoming wave.
Purple Sandpiper is quite a scarce winter visitor with fewer than 10,000 individuals in Britain. That may sound a lot but there are about 350,000 Dunlin in winter. They are usually found on rocky shores rather than beaches so this one was in an unusual habitat. As well as being a winter visitor, very small numbers nest too. The first nest was found on a mountain top in Scotland in 1978 and a very few pairs continue to nest there, usually at elevations over 1000m.
And the name Purple Sandpiper? Well, sometimes there is a slight purplish tinge to the grey winter plumage, but not so much that you'd think of naming this sandpiper purple. It was John Walcot who first coined the term Purple Sandpiper in 1789 in his Synopsis of British Birds. It had avoided any folk names until this point. And its scientific name maritima explains its winter habitat preference as it rarely strays inland.
While staying in Eugene Oregon last summer we had the pleasure of occasionally seeing black-tailed deer roam through the area behind the house we were staying in. There were several apple trees that I'm sure played a part in attracting the deer to come through this area. The deer would stop to eat apples off the ground, and on one occasion I watched a buck rear up on its hind legs and grab an apple off of one of the lower branches.
Thanks to everyone for stopping by to view, fave, and comment!!
Unfortunately, on this occasion, it didn't quite manage to get into the air - there wasn't enough wind!
In a plane of this type, and of his own design, Louis Blériot was the first to fly a heavier-than-air aircraft across the English Channel in July 1909.
An extremely successful early design, over 100 were constructed, some even seeing service in the early part of WW1.
This one is owned by The Shuttleworth Collection and seen here valiantly trying to get airborne at its home base of Old Warden.
On the occasion of Cathédrale de Lumière, the Métropole Rouen Normandie and the Normandie Impressionniste festival have entrusted the American visual artist, playwright and director Robert Wilson with the creation of the new audiovisual work projected on the façade of the monument immortalized by Monet. A dreamlike, abstract work that puts into perspective the texts of the African American poet Maya Angelou accompanied by the sublime piano studies of Philipp Glass.
With his Rouen creation, he confronts his abstract universe with a solid building and seizes the history of a city that has suffered, creating powerful images from which emerge the vulnerability and beauty of human existence. This unique show is a declaration of love to human history, in its most moving and complex sense. A monumental artistic event not to be missed.
The poems are read in English by the author and Bob Wilson himself, and in French by Isabelle Huppert who lends her voice to the Rouen show. Students from Fontenelle College and Corneille and Flaubert High Schools also recorded readings of the poems, in English and French, in the BTS audiovisual recording studio at Corneille High School.
