Lorelle Meets The Obsolete

@ Festival Nrmal 2017

grazie a Chiara per avermi sopportata una giornata intera

:)

The old and the new.

Our church was doing an e-cycle collection this week. We are finally getting rid of old computers, printers, phones, etc. The two phones on the far right are our current phones; just put in for completion! The device on the far left of the phones is actually the pager [PRE-cell phone for us!] that I had the first year my older son was in daycare almost 18 years ago.

Junk. Microphone from a very old mac.

Ironically shot on an iPhone. Then, ironically processed with the ShakeIt app which mimics polaroid instant film, also obsolete.

Greenpeace USA activists sailed out on the San Francisco Bay with a message for Congress and the oil industry. The activists displayed a banner reading “Oil Is Over, The Future Is Up to You” next to the Amazon Falcon, one of dozens of crude oil tankers stuck off the California coast as the oil industry grinds to a halt. This action comes as Congress begins negotiations on the next COVID-19 stimulus package, and as the oil industry unleashes a lobbying frenzy in hopes of securing taxpayer dollars to prop up its obsolete business model.

This is an obsolete entertainment unit that was taken apart and reconfigured.

I took the cat out first.

Changing the use of an obsolete object.

I found a very nice lady throwing out some old books, i decided to take a few, and changed one of them into a Rollerdex (which involved alot of folding!)

Obsolete Components Album Cover shots

A casualty of the digital age.

My Nokia N95 arrived today. With a 5 megapixel camera I wonder how often I'll carry my point and shoot (or rather how often I'll pull it out of my bag).

Put out to pasture but still ready to work.

A 2 Shilling piece front (circa 1948)

This is the old "data" Helsinki taxis used to have before the current one. This one I stumbled upon while in garage. Sure it was lot cleaner when it was on the dash of a cab. ;) theres gazillion large connector ports on the back panel.. It did look horrible back then, even with the DYI cover plates. Even though the current machine is not too pretty either, it's way better in every way!

Phone booth becomes art

I was lent a keyboard to work on while staying with friends... not sure it sees much action the rest of the time.

Newspapers in a rack at the Allen County Library. I still like the feel of the paper and spreading out the sheets. We still take the local paper. CNN FOX and all the others don't care what is happening down the block from me. The local papers do.

this kid's got it all figured out.

The same mix of street lamps but a few hundred yards down and the other way round, as well as taken from a different angle. Unfortunately, you can also see their shitty modern replacement.
