I was able to slip in another quick shoot for the "environment" portrait theme this week. My buddy Lance owns an excellent motorcycle (and all powertoys) shop in American Fork, Utah. I thought it would be a great shot of hiim with some bikes in the background because this really is his passion. The shop is called Obsession Motoworx for a reason.
Lance is another of my patient and willing friends that answer my call to help out with my portrait challenge needs this month.

I have to admit that I have a {slight} obsession with M&M's, specifically the peanut butter kind. I mean come on, who doesn't like chocolate and peanut butter?? I thought I would have some more fun with Valentine's Day around the corner.

...Wednesday last week I moved in to my new office, starting on a new position.
Got a new office, on my own.
A huge, white, fixed phone thingy.
And a panel.
With a mic.
And a number of buttons.
Panic buttons, kinda:
- Evacuate the building
- Fire alarm
-Terror attack
Et cetera.
All nice, good and well.
For say five (5) minutes.
Before I got obsessed with the thought of pressing button four from the bottom (EVACUATE THE BUILDING) and shout into the mic (building wide speaker system) and shout:
"LEAVE THE FUCKING BUILDING NOW YOU MORONS, YA´LL HEAR?"
I did not. I am a balanced man.
Sometimes.
This was a hard one! I think my obsessions change on a constant basis. But I don't have a long enough attention span to actually stick with them... :o)
I come across something that fascinates me...and a new obsession is born. Even it lasts only a few hours.
This piece started as packaging for bamboo socks my husband gave to me the other day. I loved the little extra flap that was on there. I think my current obsession are shiny things... Sarah Winkler just brought 3D fabric paint to my attention and I decided to check out metallic paint for a project on memories I'm currently working on. Since then I have been using metallic puff paint in all my projects... :o)
But I wanted to make the finder think about his or her own obsessions. I copied the definition from the dictionary: "A compulsive, often unreasonable idea or emotion". What's yours?
I must say that many of my ideas seem unreasonable. Actually, wasn't it Einstein that said: "If an idea doesn't seem absurd at first, it's not a good one." He's got a point there... :o)
I included the classic nude just because I love vintage photos and the piece needed something on the inside flap.
I left it on the door of the SLO County Historical Museum.
Please don't be alarmed at the sight of Henry Micro (coloured yellow) encased in a plastic bag. It's self induced situation. He's into erotic asphyxiation.
Everyone to their own, but young impressionable vacuum cleaners might to looking on. Perhaps this is a activity for the store room.
I had an outside, long exposure night shot all planned, but went and forgot my battery. So instead, you get an indoor studio shot.
I love doing product shots, so I grabbed my bottle of Obsession for Men cologne and set it up on my foamcore boards.
This was shot using ambient light augmented by light painting with a mini maglite, handheld for 3 seconds to soften the dominant ambient shadow at product right. The natural light falloff created the graduated blend behind the product.
Even at f/11, the dust was evident, in camera, on product, and on the foamcore backboards. Blemishes cleaned in Lightroom, along with only very minor exposure adjustments.
Shot with my Nikon D600 and Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 lens at f/11, ISO 100 for 3.0 seconds.
